Grief: Steam and you!

Do you preffer another sistem? dont tell me the Godawful Windows Live, that was just annoying

GFWL never pulled this [censored] on me. How about no [censored] system at all? How about not treating paying [censored] customers like criminals while the pirates, yet again, get a superior [censored] product?

How about no system at all? You should not need an online server to play a freaking single player game.

Agreed.

It's because Deus Ex is flooding the system. They'd rather treat the new money to their game than the old money. [censored] Steam. It's a joke.

What is FOMM, And how would I go about running NV with it?

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36901

Just install and it's all self-explanatory. If you're running a limited user account, or using uac, you're going to want to select a save directory that you have write access to. Something like "My Documents\fonv\" or wutev. You can't screw it up, you tell it what you want and it finds all your stuff. I just figured it out with no instructions 5 minutes ago.

edit: Make sure you choose to launch it in offline mode. Also, I'd go ahead and let it manage your fallout.ini. Haven't used this before so I backed up my game save directory.

More likely it is to do with the quake. The Steam system itself doesn't have any issues with any other games.

Steam servers will be alright for tomorrow, EA and Ubisoft however, is not the server who has problem, but their mandatory DRM and their unfair rules

REQUIRING ME TO CONNECT TO STEAM SERVERS IS DRM YOU TWIT! AND IT'S MANDATORY DRM!

No dice. Cannot start it because I uninstalled NV to try and reinstall to solve problem. Turns out I cannot even install the game without steam, Unless someone is aware of a way to install straight from disc? The tech support from Bethesda told me how, But, his method does not work at all.

I'm right now dowloading a pirate version of the game, of a [censored] game I [censored] paid for.
I think that as of today the gaming industry just freaking hit it's lowest and sadest state, as we customers are told by the developers when and when the [censored] not we can play our [censored] games, it's just hilarious, I just hope Skyrim does use this very same system, cause if it doesn't I'm so freaking dowloading it from megaupload ...

Is it even illegal if you own the game?

Oh and sorry for the double post but this is not steam's fault, I can play every other game in my steam library with no problem at all, is just this stupid idea of punishing the ones who pay by forcing ppl to be conected to steam 24/7 to play the game, and that's not steam's call but bethesda's, so shame on you bethesda ... I used to respect you ... ??

No it's not illegal even if I did NOT have a purchased copy (at least in spain) what would be illegal is if I tried to sell a pirate copy, what it is just sad that I have to pirate a game to confortably play it, sad and silly ...

Not, Bethesda fault, why people cant understand this?

They are the ones who chose to go with such a tried-and-failed DRM which didn't get them any further. So yeah, this issue even being possible in the first place is -completely- Bethesda's fault.

Also, I disabled steam sync for the game in steam before running FOMM. Not sure if that matters or not.

Steam problems right now are the servers, who are "busy", EA and Ubisoft problem are more like, "You need DRM in order to play this game..."

Do you even think about what you're writing before you do? This is -exactly- what this is. If you don't verify via their DRM, you can't play. Bethesda isn't the first company to do this and every time a company does, something like this happens and the paying customers get pissed off. Here was see the same thing happening.

This isn't what happens usually. Even if you weren't connected to Steam's servers you'd still be able to play the game. The situation right now is I suspect a patch that was pushed out isn't going through, much like what happens when if you try to play a game that needs to download a patch, it will give you the same error that everyone's getting now.

Talk of piracy = bad.

I have steam running 24/7 and I love Bethesda, I also own the game via steam. That being said, to those that own the game via hardcopy and need to use steam to play it, that is bull. I support DRM in theory, because games are really expensive to produce and piracy of products is a big issue, but I do not support the half-assed job companies have used to get it to work properly once its been implemented.

Anyways, my real question is about FOMM, im tempted to use it, but currently Im nearing the very end of the game, 2 of the dlcs to finish, and the last parts of the main mission, which are all parts of the game ripe with Achievements. So if I were to load via FOMM I assume that it won't load my achievements, or am I wrong on this account?

I see this thread ending well.

Yes, I have the same problem, but I'm willing to forgive steam once every 3-4 years now.
