Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 9:34 am

Ok i originally made this for tes96 but decided to release it as a resource. All it is, is a simple weapon grinding wheel, its not scripted or anything. Hope you like it! :)

Hi, thanks for uploading this. There are, however, some errors.

There is no wood texture included in the download. You have specified "czy_ar_bark2.dds" but have the full patch include in the NIF:
c:\users\aubrey\pictures\ellis's pics\czy_ar_bark2.dds
Need to be changed to just:
czy_ar_bark2.dds

Not quite this needs to be adjusted to Textures/czy/czy_ar_bark2.dds. Never ever dump a new texture straight into the textures folder that's just plain rude to your users. The textures folder of a typical mod user will have upwards of 10,000 files (mine has 23.859). Opening this folder takes approximately 45 on my PC and it's not in the least bit slow. Trying to find a texture within this folder is insane.

Hope you like it! :)

I do and look forward to the repaired upload.

Thank you, aSaPp!5@ for making this on behalf of my request. It's amazing that you're the first person to make a grinding wheel in the entire eight years that Morrowind has been around. I'm really looking forward to the animated version of it. I wonder when you get it to animate (crank turning as wheel turns) what kind of sound you're going to use. Will you be using a real sound of a grinding wheel turning?

From PES:
1.1-Fixed the texture problem and added the textures to their individual folders.
Sad to say it's still busted. The NIF texture paths haven't been updated to reflect the subfolders. They need to be e.g.
Textures\as\AS_iron-rod_01.dds
Rather than:
AS_iron-rod_01.dds
As currently

Secondly the wood texture's path information is still:
c:\users\aubrey\pictures\ellis's pics\czy_ar_bark2.dds
Needs to be:
Textures\czy\CZY_AR_Bark2.dds

When textures are in subfolder you need to include the Textures directory in the NIF's path

no i updated them but something kept going wrong with File planet and it said the file was broken or somehting like that, i made sure that i linked them from the mw textures file and had all of them in there, i emailed the site director to see what was wrong, when its fixed ill let you guys know, sorry for the inconvenience.

EDIT: Ok i double checked everything and its good, apparently it takes a while for it to clear with file planet or something like that, but the correct file with all the textures linked correctly should be up soon, once again i am very sorry for all of this mess.

Just an idea, something similar to Sound Stone Door Open 1 would work nicely.

Wollibeebee, would you be able to animate the wheel on your own, though? I mean, if you already know how, maybe you could do it. That stone door open sound does sound great to use. You'd probably have to have it loop for however long the wheel/crank are turning, I would guess.

I don't remember who, but somebody created a windmill and the grinding stone for it uses that sound pretty effectively.

I don't know if you got my pm but some of the stuff for junk yard is done and up on tesnexus... I still intend to do a lot more as time permits.

It was Dongle, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3345. Except he used a saw blade instead of a grinding stone. Yes, I did get your PM. I've still yet to reply to it.

I made that folder for when you kept sending me all the pictures of your island mod so that they didn't clutter up my pictures folder, and then i started saving all the pics from skype in there, and yes that's chainy's texture.

And also i would like to say that i finally got around to animating it! i just need to script it now.

This is a very cool resource, and nice work animating it!

I wanted to say though: the cylindrical meshes you use look much smoother if you use the "Smooth Normals" function in nifskope. It makes it look much more natural. Though I haven't had a chance to look at this in game, so I don't know if it really makes a difference. But I just thought I'd point it out.

aSaPp!5@, have you had a chance to script the grinding wheel? You probably won't need to as other people will use it for different purposes. Some may want it to spin continuously and others may want it to spin only upon activation for a few rotations. I'd love to have both actually. :)
You're doing an awesome job with this! Thank you.

How do you know he's not using smooth normals? Is it difficult to implement that?
