Grumpy Dark Elf

Post » Fri Dec 10, 2010 12:28 am

Hello,

Anyone know about this issue? I have Oblivion with Shivering Isles Only. No other mods. I understand that Shivering Isles provides for the official Oblivion patch so i have not run the patch.

I can't believe my eyes. Every single time I create a spell in the Arcane U, and every time I create an enchanted item (whether at the Arcane U or using a Sigil Stone) the spell or item disappears from my inventory the next time I launch Oblivion. I am so grumpy about this. I just lost my brand new "Deadly Daedric Dagger" which would have done 30 additional damage, had I ever been able to use it.

I've noticed some other anomalies during this time around too (I have perhaps 10,000 hours play time in various previous games), such as: A dropped item will be gone forever immediately upon it being outside my view (I used to pile up loot at the entrance to Rock Milk cave, can't do that any more), Also, I noticed that all chests respawn contents and are relocked everywhere I have been. This is all too weird.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

H

If you have GOTY edition, then SI will patch your game to the latest and greatest. If you just picked up SI on a disk, with KotN, then, you are a version behind, and need the 1.2.0416 patch for SI.

Isn't that what always happens?

Oh my god, is that a realistic guess? Have you played anything else since release day?

You know, I did recently just buy Oblivion again before this last install since it has certainly been worth it it to me and my old cd was pretty trashed ... Maybe it's not GotY ... That could be it. Maybe I'll patch it and see what happens ... It's too messed up to play anyway.

As far as the chests go, as far as I recall they are always locked the first time they are encountered and never afterwards ... they have new stuff in them but only useless stuff. I could be remembering this wrong though since I've been through Fallout 3 many times since my last Oblivion excursion. I'm sure about dropping things and having them always stay there forever though.

I think 10,000 hours is reasonable. I am a total purist weirdo. If I die, I start over. Any game, no exceptions. I have seen 2000 hours on several Oblivion games where there was simply nothing left to explore. Same with Morrowind - 10,000 hours at least. I only do RPG's that are non-linear.

Thanks for the input so far.

The launcher should tell you what version you have. (I am going to guess 1.2.0000 something or other, with the FormID bug...) Either that, or check properties of the oblivion.exe.
