GTX 560ti 1GB Vs 2GB?

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 4:04 am

Hi,

Im wanting an upgrade.
I only have a 700watt powersupply.
I called cyberpower because i wanted a 5970 2GB but they didnt do it and said equivalent would be a GTX 580 1.5GB and 6970 2GB and that i would have to get a new power supply. So in the end i didnt.

They told me that for my PSU the best cards would be a 6850 1gb and gtx 560ti 2gb
but there doesnt seem to be much talk about the 2gb version and some are saying that it hardly makes a difference ( the 2GB in comparison to the 1GB ), whats your opinion?

its does and it doesnt, it depends on the CPU and ram, if your CPU and ram are quick enough you can go on without Vram, if its a bit slow, your GPU might have to depend on Vram for quick access.

VRam is for storing game textures, 1GB is plenty though 2GB wouldn't hurt. It's up to you I can't decide for you

Hi guys. Thanks for your replies. sorry i forgot to mention it but my Cpu is i5-2500 @ 3.7GHz and my ram = 12GB DDR3 @ 1333mhz Resolution: 1600x900

The reason i asked about the 1 and 2gb is because there is hardly any talk about the 2gb and most ppl buy the 1gb version. and others are saying the 2gb hardly makes a difference in games.

I've always used to say memory hardly makes a difference but after my 896mb card starting crashing in some games with detailed textures (MaLDo HD texture mod, BF3 on High textures... tbh there's no point setting textures on high anyway because when you go close it loads a high res texture...lol, Red Orchestra 2) maybe 896mb might not be enough nowadays? Not entirely sure, I mean, STALKER Call of Pripyat has the best textures I've ever seen and it doesn't crash my PC.
From experience I'd play it safe with 2gb but I get the feeling it doesn't really make that much of a difference
