GTX 590 CAN'T PLAY ULTRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????WTF

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:00 pm

Hi,

I just spent a heap of money on the gtx 590, an I am very upset that I can't play crysis 2 on ultra smoothly

When I set ultra settings, when I shoot into water the whole game slows down until the water particles disappears

The same thing happens when o shoot stone walls and all the smoke/ debris flies off the wall

U can imagine how everything lags and slows down when there is a lot of action regarding shooting walls And water....

Why is this happening ?

Current specs

i7 2600
Motherboard z68x ud3r b3
900w power supply
120gb SSd
8gb DDR 3 ram 1333mhz
Gainward gtx 590

You might want to share your other components. What did you drop the card into?

Whats your vram? Mine is only 768mb on SLI'd 460's and I'll get that, too. For multiplayer I play in dumbed-all-the-way-down DX9....

For maxed-out singleplayer, the D3Dovverrider utility (true triple buffered vsync) makes things nice and smooth. That utility and this problem were recently discussed here.... Good Luck!

("D3Doverrider" is a standalone utility in the RivaTuner package...)

When you buy your com, you don't check your spec carefully? You need to learn a lot about PC. Is your com pre-built or custom? Tell us more about it.

Well, if u look at my specs, I saw that deal advertised, and all I did was add the gtx 590

I thought if the motherboard was compatible then the gpu should do it's job

Do you think something is wrong about the above build?

what resolution is your monitor?

also, right click on your desktop, select nvidia control panel.
then make sure that multi-GPU is enabled.
also what drivers are you using?

Resolution of monitor 1080p

Multi gpu enabled, although ambient occlusion is off, what does that do?

Drivers are the most up to date drivers from nvidia

What is the brand of your power supply?Did you apply the dx11 and high res tex patch for c2?What about other demanding games like metro or crysis1.C2 never really makes good use of multi gpu setup.Try to disable one gpu and try.

actually Crysis 2 make very good use of multi-GPU setup.
http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/gpu_displays/crysis_2_-_dx9_vs_dx11_-_6990_vs_gtx590/4
^that's what you should be getting

http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/OPS/Crysis-2-GeForce-GTX-590-OPS
^that's what you should be at.

btw what's your CPU?
the MP portion of c2 is extremely CPU intensive sometimes reaching 67% usage on my quad core i5 2500K @ stock. with windows audio progresses chugging an additional 23% that's 90% during intense MP action
SP is ligher on CPU.

I also have this issue but a different setup, i figured out its a setting called "particle shadow" and i made a post about how to turn it off but i have not had any replies.

I know its the particle shadows because Maldo's new hd pack comes with a config tool to switch it off and when its off weather i shoot at water or the ground not any drop in fps...

So if anyone knows the command line for it please do inform us thanks.

Well, that's interesting.... But I own a gtx 590!!! I mean come on aye, that svcks if a top end gpu can't max the game out......

What gpu r u using? Because if ur using a gpu that should be able to handle ultra then it's not the particle shadows that are at fAult .... We might be able to help each other out on this... Let's promise to message each other if we find a solution to this problem? We can just message each other on the crysis private messages thingy

Plus, I haven't heard anyone with a high end graphics card havIng the same problem

I don't know what power supply i have, only that it is powerful enough

With regards to other games like crysis 1, I could easily max out the game with my previous gtx 570! I haven't tried it with my gtx 590 yet.... I really want to solve this before battlefield 3 comes out!!

If you bought your comp as a package deal, there is a chance that a cheap psu has been used. Best to have a look I reckon.

I'm uncertain that one (1) GTX 590 will max out Crysis 2. With Crysis 1, I used two (2) GTX 295 to get 100fps at max settings. I currently run two (2) GTX 590 without a problem. If you are running a CPU at 2600, that might be the problem, but also we should know what RAM you run. Give us a complete spec on your computer, including OS.
