Guards, Crime and Detection.

It would be cool that PEPOLE would actually commit crimes, not you only or the thives guild. In the OB Demo Thing There WAS that stuff, that you can tell a guard that someone stole from you and they will go looking for him. It would be cool if mayeb there would be some cities with bigger crimes and soem with small. In other words: Ones have more crimes, others don't have any. I imagine YOU getting pickpocketed, or someone breaking into your house (I hope we can buy them in Skyrim as in Oblivion). NO PSYCHIC GUARDS PLZ! And if you stole, and someone stole it back, and something else from you that actually belogns to you, then you should EXPLAIN the guard... Or maybe add a chance game? Like in fallout with the speech thing.... I wonder if they keep Personality Or Speechcraft, cause that should be the thing that enchances your ability to lies or convince.

I voted No, Yes, Not bothered and Yes. Though I doubt they will change anything in this field, it's just the way it is in Elder Scrolls games.

I agree that the guards in OB were ridiculous and i also think there should be other crimes to like hostage and stuff. If you think about it though beth has used the bounty hunter system in fallout 3 with the people who would attack you and you would find a holotape on them saying that you would give them 10,000 caps to kill your character because he has a bounty on his head.

A few things that annoyed me about the crime system in Oblivion were:

1) Being in jail, even for a day, decreased your abilities
2) Guards instantly knew who committed a crime, even if they did not see it or no one did.
3) Guards could easily find you, you could not hide from them
4) How quickly news of a crime spread, steal something in Bruma and get arrested Anvil, how?
5) The fact you can pay to get out going to jail. For a minor crime maybe, but not for murder.

Things that should be added:

1) Hide form guards.
2) More crimes such as arson, hostage situations, [censored], etc
3) the death penalty for crimes (which you can escape from, and you spend time in jail before)
4) Civilians commit crimes, and go to jail etc.
5) If you have a hood or mask on, or are invisible, and you commit a crime, you should have to be chased first before someone found out it was you - no one should instantly know!

And one more thing, if you have an inadvisability spell on, and you interacted with one thing, the spell wore of. That not how invisibility should work!

What do you think?

Thankyou for posting this I totally agree. if Beth could make this work better then the game would be so much better.

Regional bounty's should be dependent on the crime, really. Stealing a roll of twine should only be in the place it was committed, whereas mass murder should be known all over skyrim (by people and guards, possibly also mentioned in newspapers and other people's conversation) perhaps with a less chance of being arrested the further away you are from the crime scene.

Reminds me when I was at the "katana temple" I was best friends with everyone there when we had to go on horse (There were three horses), I got up on my horse and suddenly everyone starts attacking me (Including my BFF NPC), that's when I realize I mounted the WRONG HORSE, and they refused to listen to me and just tried to kill me endlessly. Had to load from my last saved point.

They seriously needs to tone down guard reactions accordingly.

I would'a taken them out. It's only fair. Conan would have [censored] annihilated them.

I walked into that swamp town in Oblivion and saw the guards beating the [censored] out of Wee-bum-na (or whatever his name is) for stealing. Man I loved that guy. Wee-bum-na's death was avenged. The town was destroyed (including his wife who raised her fists at me - sorry Wee-bums').

Though admittedly, it was very rare to see someone else stealing. And they never made it far. I think Wee-bums' stole a pear. Big mistake Mr. Na. The Rusty Iron Dagger didn't take him very far.
