Guars In Skyrim

Post » Mon Sep 06, 2010 9:46 pm

Ok, i would absolutely love my little Guars back in tamriel. the events on Vvardenfell may not have killed them off, and they may still be around somewhere.
in fact i have a theory as to how it could happen. Read this and tell me what you think.

It could happen but it shouldn't. They're native to Morrowind and I'd rather see new creatures than just rehashing of old ones.

I really wouldn't be bothered if they were. I don't expect to go back to Morrowind for a very very long time, if ever, so I wasn't really planning on seeing a Guar again anyway. Mainland Morrowind is still mostly intact though, so it's unlikely that all the Guar are dead.

Guars would be very cool. I haven't heard anything about them, and I have heard about several other creatures, so I sort of doubt they'll be included, but I'd be very glad if they were.

true. but still, the argument of rehashing old creatures isnt that solid considering that oblivion rehashed most of their monsters from arena, daggerfall and other fantasy sources. the guar was pretty unique and actually had a cool function. i would love to see them return with all new lore to back them and different species and such.

There should be 1 guar, it's dead, cannot be revived, and there's a NPC that says it died from the cold, along all all other guar brought over

TAKE THAT!!!

Never said Oblivion had unique monsters, but it's Cyrodiil, and that's what I expect from Cyrodiil so I wasn't bothered. Skyrim is supposed to be more unique though.

A post from another thread I thought might have some relevance here...

I never played Morrowind but reading up on Bloodmoon, I'd definitely like to see something like http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Karstaag. :hehe:

Edit: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:War_Durzog#War_Durzog would also be a nice touch. I can picture myself wandering around in the eastern edges of Skyrim just to find one drinking from a river. It looks up, sees me then dives into the water only to emerge from the other side of the bank and run towards me much like the wolf we saw in the trailer. Some http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Ogrim#Ogrim wouldn't hurt either.

I think they should make some kind of stalking AI where they will follow you from the distance for a few minutes before attacking you. That would definitely add to the creepy factor if you can see it off in the distance but cant attack.

This sounds awesome. Perfect AI for mah http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:War_Durzog#War_Durzog. :ninja:

VERY FRICKIN RELEVANT! thank you. i love durzogs..i hated the sewers because of them. they were hard and never dropped anything i wanted which made survival a huge task. but back to guars. same idea but with companion pets..i dont wanna have to relive killing the blighted ones.

There are no snow guar, and my point was to pretty be akin to a finger to guar fans.

However, I would love to see GWAR!!!! And Danger Dan, they would be a nice addition for gobbos.

I think guars just look dumb. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:War_Durzog#War_Durzog on the other hand... :P

i think durzogs should be in argonia. i was surprised when they weren't in blackwood...i was hoping for a chance to take a few on but never happened. i don't think that was modded in either..

And I don't get the joke. Gobbos? I assume it was joke anyway...

Well according to what fan sites say, they inhabit the mainland of Morrowind. Hence their appearance in Tribunal. So it looks like they were just as likely to appear in Eastern Cyrodill as in the northern area of Black Marsh. Eastern Skyrim is a possibility but only if they range all the way to Blacklight. I like 'em so I want 'em in.

Of all the rather odd creatures of Morrowind, guars are among the few I wouldn't mind encountering again in the east of Skyrim, if only for the novelty factor (also: pack guars).

Guar are an important part of Dunmer agriculture, it makes sense that they would have been brought over to Skyrim after Morrowind was ravished. There could also be wild Guar and other creatures native to Morrowind near the border in Skyrim, so I don't think they or any other species was wiped out. I wouldn't mind seeing a Kwama or twenty.
