Since I have already used the game key.
If i had realized how under developed the release was, I would have probably looked at another game.
I mean, the game is decent. The storyline is good and I love the AI(except when it bugs out and they all shoot at me through a thick wall for no reason, they could of never seen me and its instantaneously)
The biggest issue is, I was very disappointed by the game. Even on the highest settings, the games graphics aren't to good. Yeah there better than allot of other games, but the texture and poly counts on allot of things are just horrible. blurry cartons and square door handles that look like a block sticking out of the door. Texture resolutions that make me cringe. I realize that compared to the original Crysis, it does look better, but that is a 3 year old game, when common gfx cards had limited video memory, like maybe 256, 512MB. Now latest machines and graphics cards have at least 1GB of video memory, not counting shared memory. With shared, my laptop(which is not a gaming laptop) has over 2 gigs of video memory available to be used, while my desktop has 4 gigs available.
The lack of DX11 and the frequent crashes I see also put me down. The worst part is it doesn't even seem to stress my system(or any kind of decent load, never kicks up my GPU fan) on the highest settings. While this may make you think it renders more efficiently, it makes me think its because its a dirty console port that is still limited by its origins from the xbox 360.
While i really do hope some of the issues are fixed within the next quarter, I almost regret spending my money on Crysis 2 now, instead of down the road when they maybe work out some issues and it goes on sale on steam.
If this game had been by any other company, I would accept everything as is(Except the DX11), but this is Crytek we are talking about. They set the bar really high with The original crysis and I really was hoping they would set the bar high again.
Last, the seemingly lack of dedicated servers(unless I missed them somewhere, It seems companies are no longer releasing servers to the public, which is cheap because I have access to some dedicated servers in a datacenter and would prefer to run them there for free instead of paying some company $20 a mo.) With that and the issues above, I will no longer look at Crytec as being the company I used to think it is.
