I have been playing this game since I could get my hands on it shortly after its release. I have played this game all that time without the GOTY Guide Book. A couple of years ago I was going to buy the GOTY Guide Book at my local Barnes and Nobles but decided against it. I then almost bought the guide book through amazon or ebay but missed out.

Each time I could not decide if I really wanted the guide book or was it worth it.

I am not sure if I really want the guide book at this point. But considering the rerelease of the Goty guide book I am in the same place as before.

My stance on guidebooks is usually that I don't need them. I like the element of not knowing what is in the game, not knowing what is ahead in the quest or the world I am playing in. I like that sense of adventure and exploration.

Now I have still not completed the game one hundred percent, not even close after 5 years. But just to be clear I haven't been playing the game for 5 years, as its been very on and off again.

But again here I am with the decision in front of me to buy the Goty guide book.

The plus to buying the guidebook is all the vast knowledge in one book. Every character, every weapon, every spell, every potion etc. and the lore of it all.

IDK. What do you think?

I've heard from people that the guide book adds a feeling of making the game "brand new" again as you're looking at it from a different perspective, i.e. the more the knowledge you have, allows you to go into the game with more preparation.

They don't interest me. But to each his or her own.

I had the guide book since say 1... but here's the thing.. I never looked at the "quest" parts.. IF I got stuck I looked it up in the index and had my husband read enough that I could get past that part.. very seldom did I have to do that. .. Blood on the Ice being one of the few.

I had the book "tabbed"...red in the area's that I did not want to look at..because of "spoiling" a quest. Blue in "general Information".. yellow in area's that were iffy. Red was also on the map that showed every place...

I still have not done every quest...seen every dungeon... how and why you want to use it are important ...to you. If your afraid of spoiling...and have no self control about the book, then I would not buy it.

It depends on how you want to play, really. If you're just trying to find out how to unlock a certain item or start a specific questline, a quick Google search works as well as any guide book. But if you want to make sure you've explored every section and completed every questline, then the guide book is really helpful.

I'd get it, but that's just me. I also tend to get the books for every epic game that comes out. I just like the reading material, not because I need it to get past quests. But I like knowing it's there if I do need it.
