GUIDE to Reverting UGrids back to 5

Post » Sat Apr 06, 2013 10:05 pm

Here are the console commands used to revert your uGridsToLoad values back to the default 5, so that your save won't be corrupt.

Because it takes me 5-10 minutes of Googling to find these instructions hidden in some thread on a gaming website, I'm posting them here so I can find them quickly and so that others can too:

1. Open Skyrim.ini in your text editor.
2. Launch Skyrim.
3. Load your game save.
4. Alt-tab to your text editor, change uGridsToLoad=5 and uExteriorCellBuffer=36 then save the Skyrim.ini file.
5. Alt-tab back to Skyrim, open the console, type refreshini and then close the console.
6. Create a new savegame, exit Skyrim.

I knew about that but never tried it. Does it work?
