[WIP] Guild-Mod Project (Need Help)

Post » Sun Oct 31, 2010 12:48 am

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW!

Hey!

I'm working on this guild-mod.

The idea of the mod is to get to join this guild, (name not yet decided),
and then you get tasks and assignments until you reach the rank of Guild Master. Even at the top-rank you get jobs to do and difficulties which appear from time to time.

I'm a interior-designer and have made some basic interiors. These interiors are not fully furnished and cluttered. Someone made the AI for the guards for me, since I don't know poo about NPC-creation.
What you can see in the video is only a little part of the headquarters.

I have made the rooms which is shown in the video, and now I need help with quests, exteriors, scripting and NPC-creation.

If you're interested in joining me, contact me or post here!
By the way, the "o"s in the video are actually zeros. (0)

I think that you need to have a well-thought out concept of exactly what it is you're designing before you declare a project like this. While the interior design is done fairly well, it's only a first step - you can hardly make a guild / quest mod without knowing what the guild does and what those quests will revolve around. Good luck, though. :)

So you know nothing about NPCs, quests or scripts, but decided to create a guild mod? I can't say I admire your planning.

Why not learn yourself? There are plenty of tutorials around for someone with enthusiasm like yourself. Why not start http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Basic_NPC_Creation_Tutorial? There's also this http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Dialogue_Tutorial, this one for http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Quest_Tutorial and here's a nice and simple tutorial for http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Scripting_Tutorial:_My_First_Spell. Check out that site, there's loads of stuff.

My idea was to made kind of a team... Me as the interior/exterior-designer, and others for the quests. :P

This community doesn't work like that. The only people who will jump on a project like this, with no solid dev plan and a Team Leader who has washed his hands of doing anything beyond interior design, are 12 year old wannabe modders with no skills that will help you anyway. If you want to see this completed you will need to change your plan. Flesh out your idea, name your guild, create a backstory, have an outline for the quests and goals of the project; that will give people something defined that they can actually rally behind :)

And plan on learning what you need to do it all by yourself. A lot of novices are intimidated by questbuilding and scripting, that's normal, but generally you only need very basic skills in each to accomplish your goal so do the work. You are absolutely capable. If you are just flatlined committed to doing no additional work on this yourself, ask a moderator to close this thread and pack it in, because it's not going to go anywhere. If interior design is all that interests you than you should offer yourself as an interior designer to another Team with an actual dev plan and functional leader who can get the job done.

I know it sounds like harsh reality but that is just the way it works, unfortunately, modding takes a lot of personal investment and very few people will invest in something so underdeveloped. I've been in your shoes somewhat, but I had to learn what it took to do the job on my own. You will to, and I hope to see you in class because you are capable of doing more than you know. Good Luck :foodndrink:
