Guild Wars 2

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:18 am

I was looking at Guild Wars 2, the gameplay, the enviroment, and the experience looks great!
I can't wait to get my hands on it. That's of course as long as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim isn't out at that time. I try to focus on my RPGs and MMORPGs one at a time. :)

What do you guys think of it?

First bought Guild Wars in.... 07? I think. Well, I was a hardcoe player for a 2 or 3 years, amassing a fortune of gold but then just dropped it, don't know why, just doesnt appeal to me anymore.

Guild Wars 2 looks interesting, i might pick it up sooner or later.

I think I understand what you mean. I had Guild Wars but I just had a trouble staying with it, had trouble following along with what I was supposed to do.
Guild Wars 2 has a simpler UI as it looks. Also the combat looks much improved. (maybe it's just me)

Funnily enough, while I'm REALLY excited about GW2(it's probably up there with Skyrim for me), I never could get into GW1 very much. For some reason I just couldn't quite get the gameplay mechanics and item system into my head, it just always seemed counter-intuitive somehow; not sure why. Plus I absolutely HATED the death mechanic(good riddance to that system).

Anyway, it looks like GW2's going to be really interesting, and I'm LOVING where the devs are taking it; just the concept of not competing for mobs is amazing(that's actually why I quit WoW after Cataclysm came out-I just couldn't stand the idea of having to race hordes[pun very much intended] of people to mobs and gathering nodes). Not to mention that each class seems to have something really unique about it. And the cities(well, at least Divinity Reach so far) look AMAZING, I'm an absolute svcker for that sort of stuff.

I think GW 2 is going to be great. I've been playing GW since last summer and following the news on GW 2, which probably won't be released until the end of 2011 or early 2012. One of the greatest innovations will be the "dynamic events" of GW 2, in which events such as invasions will have a lasting effect instead of the game resetting every time. GW 2, like its predecessor, won't allow kill-stealing and griefing. You won't have "henchmen" or "hero" bots to help you, unlike GW.

Just looked at the Thief Class. It looks awesome, that'll most likely be my first class, that or Ranger, most likely Norn or Human. I hope armor isn't race specific now, just Heavy, Medium, Light.

Environment looks awesome. We can really jump from roof to roof? I wonder if we can climb, maybe some sort of Assassins Creed mechanic, that'd be awesome.

Classes look awesome.

Races look awesome.

Game just looks plain awesome.

So what is everyone elses favorite class and race so far?

I'll probably pick this up sometime after I get bored with Skyrim (which might take awhile) and switch of between the two.

My favorite class in GW1 is the Dervish. A medium tank with incredible damage, if done right. Sometimes though you'll get that odd enemy that just pwns a Dervish, like the monsters in the endgame content areas. I felt so useless when I went with my old clan to one. Most of us just stood back while a warrior tank and elementalist pwned everything.

Did you know dervishes were recently buffed? I like their Avatar spell.

For Guild Wars 2, I'm looking forward to playing human, Norn, and Sylvari characters. I'll probably create a Charr character at some point, but the Asura don't interest me that much yet.

I've enjoyed all of the professions in Guild Wars, except I don't run a monk, assassin (except as a secondary profession), or ranger currently.

What I think about GW2? ME WANT.

To all people who think differently, the first Guild Wars PvE while nice is really not the main point of the game, PvP is and its freaking awesome.

I played GW for about 4 years but I stopped because European districts have gotten pretty thin and tbh I got kind of tired already, but it looks like Guild Wars 2 is going to be just as awesome and have an actual PvE focus which is great because I love me some PvE...

As long as its not too grindy.

I can't really comment on favorite GW2 class yet because I want to see them all first but in the first game my favorites were Warrior, Ele, Necro and Mesmer. I'm thinking about opening a Charr or a Norn, not quite sure which yet :P

I'm really looking forward to GW 2. But a lot of my excitement for it has died down, mostly cause I'm trying to complete a few things in Guild Wars still and I don't think GW 2 is coming out for another year yet. My first character will be a warrior, haven't decided on the race yet though. Probably a Norn or a Charr, it has to work with my current main character though, because I'm gonna kinda tie him into the backstory and everything. Hopefully it ends up as polished as it looks, and the skills come out balanced.

PvP should be more fun this time around too, not to say it wasn't in GW, but I only liked certain forms of it.

Almost missed that small part.
In one of the interviews, it might have been with Game Trailers.com, not exactly sure but I remember one of the developers talking about how there will be VERY LITTLE grinding if ANY AT ALL. :)

Also, you can check out all the classes with gameplay videos of each one http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/.

Yeah thanks to the dynamic events/quests system, but I'll have to see it in game to believe it completely because the concept sounds awesome and fun but how will they make that actually work when the servers are swarmed with people...

Also, as long as I have my random arena and some old school GW PvP I'm happy, its not like we need to pay a monthly fee :P

Oh and believe me, I know everything that there is to know about GW2 I just can't really comment before I actually see them all (meaning the unannounced ones as well) and how they work in conjunction with other professions with the new combat system and of course, actually playing them. :)

*Looks up wistfully* Guild Wars? Crazy times, man... crazy times... Maybe I'll pick it up. It would be hilarious if I ran into someone I knew in the first game :P

It's fascinating how the devs try their best to refine every feature of this game, instead of sacrificing one important thing for another. There is not a single thing I disapprove in all the info they have released so far. You can't go wrong with fixing the flaws of GW1 and every tedious MMO in the market, not to mention adding original and promising ideas.

Let's hope that they can deliver.

Same, I had my dervish all worked out and I understood how to work them to its full potential... but now with the recent update its all different, i just don't feel like redoing all my builds and relearning how to play them.

Good bit of gameplay, Human Ranger and Charr Elementalist (54 Minutes total.)

More gameplay, Human Elementalist and Charr Warrior (43 minutes total, this one is more interesting, has commentary from one of the devs)

Don't mind the German, it's only at the beginning.
