Guilds/Factions of Skyrim

Post » Sun Dec 12, 2010 5:58 pm

I am going with all of them but the Skyrim cult and the merchants guild. This is because I am not even sure if a Skyrim cult even exists and a merchants guild would be really boring.

There will certainly be a faction of Nord/Skyrim secessionists who are opposed to the Imperial Legion (or whatever the other side in the civil war is called).

Not sure if any of those guilds will exist in Skyrim. We know that the mages guild does not exist any more, the imperial legion is probably gone as well... also, the blades are gone, except for the last blade.

Where did you get that the mages guild is gone?

And the blades still have one stronghold in the Skyrim mountains, it's where the carving of Alduin's Wall is located, Esbern is one of the last blades not THE last blade.

The mages guild is kaput, they disbanded after the fall of the empire.

There are two organisations for the arcane arts, the College of Whispers and the Synod.

There will be a fighters guild equaivalent, although it may not be *the* fighter's guild (possibly a mercenary band). I'd expect the same for the mages guild as well.

The Dark Brotherhood was extremely popular in OB, so I expect Beth will implement another assassins guild as well (again maynot be the same DB).

Don't know if the thieves guild will stick around.

I think there's a very good chance we'll see two new factions representing the opposing political forces in Skyrim.

I guess I'm gonna have to go read the Infernal City tonight to figure out what is up with these two.

But just going by the names I would have to say College of Whispers sounds a lot cooler than Synod :D

Odds are there will also need to be some sort of thieves guild-ish fence where you can sell stolen goods.

Or the game could just be realistic, and not have shopkeepers magically know that your items were stolen.

1. The Infernal City

2. Okay, my mistake.

Of the ones listed, I'll guess Theives Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and a Cult of Shor ('Skyrim Cult', as it's listed here). The others are Imperial institutions (and some we know no longer exist), and thus are unlikely to show up here. There will certainly be guilds for mages and fighters, but not the actual Fighters Guild and Mages Guild.

The Blades will be present, but joining them is questionable.

Eh, the poll is insufficient, but here's my take on what you have.
Imperial Legion - Not going to happen if you ask me. The Cyrodiilic empire at the start of the Infernal City was hardly together, and I doubt a Mede will scream a Thu'um like Tiber, or be a divine that is of the likes of Reman I.
Fighters Guild - One will probably exist. However, I have a feeling it'll be more than THEE Fighters Guild, as the fall of the Septim Empire would have ended their charter (and thus their monopoly on hireable legal mercs), allowing other mercenary organizations to pop up.
Mages Guild - It was toppled, and in its ashes were born The College of Whispers and The Synod. Will they be in Skyrim, dunno, but I bet there will be a magical organization or two in Skyrim.
Thieves Guild - Easily.
Dark Brotherhood/Assassins Guild? - The Dark Brotherhood have a monopoly on assassinations, and thrive on chaos. Heck, during the crummy parts of the 2nd era (between the fall of the Reman Empire and the rise of Tiber Septim, which was worse than what we have now), they grew extremely fat with gold.
Necromancer Cult? - I'd rather not, and have necromancers be part of legal mage organizations
Imperial Cult - Doubtful. The religion of the 9 tied in heavily with the last empire, and with its fall, I could see it declining in areas. Heck, I doubt the nords would really tolerate Shor's absence in the 9 and Akatosh's utmost praise.
Blades? - EDIT: I bet they'll tie into the MQ.
Merchants Guild? - What stuff are they having a monopoly on?
Skyrim Cult?(I dont know wanted to make it ten choices this probably doesnt exitst) - Cults to Shor are probably going to be very prevalent.

I went with the Thieve's, Mage's, and Fighter's guild, because they are a staple, no matter the name.

It might be interesting to infuse the Thieves Guild with a type of Merchants' Guild mentality, give them a little more of a Mafia / black-market feel in which local shops are compelled to join and do business.

I would have to say Emperial Legion or a Nordic Clan.
I miss rising threw the ranks of the empire.
If they add the ranks to clans which obviously they will i would love to rise to become the leader of my clan or army.

Well the Blades are gone except for a few in Skyrim and the one that trains you so maybe in the main story you could start the Blades up again?

From what I could understand we've all been assuming that Skyrim takes place after the fall of the Empire.

But since Skyrim is not yet seceded from the Empire in the events of Skyrim, then the Empire hasn't collapsed yet, and Titus Mede def isn't emperor, he might not even be born!

So this makes the disband of the mages guild unconfirmed at this point in TES history.

I thought they said Skyrim was 200 years after the events of Oblivion, I was also told that the Imperial Empire has fallen and in the beginning of the game the King of Skyrim gets killed thrusting Skyrim into a state of Civil war. But that is what I heard, I have to go check the lore but from what I have heard and seen from comments on videos
