They were fun in TES II: Daggerfall and TES III: Morrowind too.

Odds of them not coming back, in my opinion: almost definitely zero. The game being an isometric-view turn-based RPG is more likely.

Exactly, there is no need for them. If people haven't heard yet let me spoil Skyrim gameplay.

It's only on Xbox kinect and all you do is walk around and pet the people and animals. GOTY for sure.

I don't get why anyone would ever even ask that.

Of course theres going to be guilds! There were guilds in all of the major TES games (not sure about arena or battlespire and redguard) and there will be in skyrim.
It's strange how you ask it like they ever took them away.

Would you settle for a QTE interactive plot...

Lets not worry so much about whether guilds will be present or not, shift the topic a little and say which guilds you think should be present. And let us know if your suggestions are for a world before the events of The Infernal City or after, things were shaken up a little in that book.

I went to list which ones I think should be in the game (after the Infernal city) but I'm not sure which ones are still existent.

The game being an isometric-view turn-based RPG is more likely.

That's my hopes dashed :(

If I remember that book correctly it refers to the break up of a few guilds and the creation of a few guilds soon after the Oblivion crisis, not actually during the chronology of the book. Since the book is official canon then unless Skyrim is based within a year or two of Oblivion then we will have the Infernal City guilds.

Yeah guilds is a must! but I would really love to have alot of small joinable factions aswell. A hunting faction or something would have been cool :)

Well considering in FO3 there wasn't any "guilds" (or perhaps factions is a better word in FO3's case) nor in F:NV (Yes I know bethesda didn't make it but still) it's kinda understandable about being worried about guilds/factions returning.

Guilds must be a part of TES V, and there is no chance (I think), that guilds/factions/houses etc. would be removed. If anything, it will expand (I hope). Question is, which guilds will acutally be in the game? Fighters, mages and thieves guilds are a given, probably, Brotherhood, prehaps. Probably rival guilds as well, seeing as we are no longer in the heart of the empire. Factions? I hope.

for the record, a necromancer guild is on my wishlist.

I don't think there's any discussion on if guilds will be back or not.

I think it's more of a "Will the be fleshed out or not?" Kind of thing.

Guilds will be back, surely. But I hope there are alternatives. For example, it would be cool to be a theif in competition with the Theives' Guild. They might want to.. you know.. "persuade" you to alter your business practices. A smoldering resentment against guild monopolies could lead to some interesting quests and NPC's. Quests involving various political machinations and conflicting interestes of the guilds could be lots of fun, too.

Yeah guilds weren't even in fallout to begin with. Unless you count the Brotherhood of Steel or something, but even then they were more of a faction than a guild.

Guilds will definitely be in Skyrim, I just hope they're a bit more detailed with more to do when you're finished and when you're just a plain old member as well.

lol

in a worst case scenario skyrim will have 3 sword types (short, broad, epic) , one armor type, a single nord character that YOU MUST PLAY, and 8 missions.
