Some people say that DNF might be irelevant because it's oldschool and doesn't feel like Halo or CoD.
But I think that that's something good.
Not that Halo and CoD aren't good games, but it's good to know that the game actually keep it's originality and isn't just another clone.
Duke Nukem 3d was a huge success for its time not because of the strippers or the jokes.
The game actually had a very few jokes.
One of the things that made DN3D special was its phenomenal interactivity.
It was the first time in gaming history where you could actually shoot at the walls and see marks of your bullets.
You could use a faucet to drink water, you could explode that ATM you found at the bank and watch paper money flying in the air...
There where so many things you could do in this game that are not directly mission-related but gave the game a unique feeling of realism, even with those not so good graphics of 1996.
Duke3d had very imaginative level design, and the levels where stuffed with so many things to do,that except from adding to immersion these features also added huge replayability.
Except the interactive objects you could find in it's levels, the levels where also full of secret areas and even complete secret levels, that took years of playing for finding them all alone.
Now I'm an old gamer.
I don't say that modern shooters are bad,but I've missed old school gameplay. :touched:
I just want smart designed levels that make me want to explore them to find secrets,to have time experimenting with objects and the terrain to see how things respond to all the crazy ideas that will come to my mind, and I also want to have that huge gun and run across rooms shooting everything until everything explode in pieces!
:flamethrower:
I think it's not something bad for a game to have unique gameplay.
Some might like it,some might not but in the end I think that being different it's something good by itself, just for adding some variety to the genre.
