I was interested. Till I saw Gearbox on that image.. but if it gets reviews, I'll just buy it used.

It looks like it came out of a time machine. Hell some of the early parts of the trailer looked suspiciously Halo inspired. I'm going to wait for the reviews on this one, but for some reason it feels wrong. Perhaps it's because if any video game qualifies as a zombie that would be old forever here.

All I need is a 90s shooter with low brow humour and modern graphics. This game does not need anything else.

What? They did decent, but not great games. What's the problem with that?
...
Ech, that shouldn't be an issue anyway, since they only publish it.

Gearbox is developing it and publishing it. Biomechstudent's problem with Gearbox, if I recall correctly, is because of the way they treated PC users during the initial release of Borderlands. Back when it first happened I was pretty angry about it, and so was he, as he posted about it in my Borderlands thread... but I have awful long term memory and don't actually remember what it was I was so angry about.

Anyway, I'm more looking forward to reading how the reviewers out there tackle this game than I am actually playing it. But I'm certainly hoping it turns out to be good.

I will only get excited when I have the game in my hand until then I feel like something will happen and the game will disappear for another decade.

I was wondering what this Duke Nukem was about and I looked it up to find far too long of a development history. What happened?

Yes, this is the big game that took twelve years to make.

Take away the Duke Nukem name (which itself doesn't carry any real weight anymore, outside of being a joke), and it's just another derivative FPS in an oversaturated genre.

I was wondering what this Duke Nuken was about and I looked it up to find far too long of a development history. What happened?

To put it simply, the idiot who ran 3D Realms, George Broussard, just didn't know when to stop...well, adding things to his game.

Okay, that's what they are mainly responsible for. The game was in alpha state, as unbelievable as it is, and thus the responsibility lies more with Triptych, who really know their way around the code. Gearbox supplies supervisors and handymen.
Sheesh, I usually hate it when people simplify stuff like I did... ^_^

Huh, I had no idea about Triptych's involvement, though that might be because I haven't been following this game. Thanks for letting me know though, reading about how Pitchford tried to make it sound like it was all Gearbox reminds me of all the reasons I used to hate Randy Pitchford.

The trailer was 60% aliens getting blown up, 20% strippers, 10% lame quotes and 10% driving

oh nostalgia...

the king is back and you know it

Well, that's all as it should be, isn't it? :hehe:

Well, he's a professional. Not the most likeable person, but professional. Like the Toddster.

BLOW IT OUT YOUR SPOTTED OWL

I remember being probably 7 years old, playing Duke Nukem 3D, and not understanding what the nice lady was doing when I waved a dollar bill at her. I showed my dad, and he just laughed. I'm so very ready for this.

Yes. Surly it should be something like: Guise of Duke Nukem. or maybe if we are talking about Guise, Fran?ois de Lorraine (Who I dislike) it should be: Guise's Duke Nukem. (But then he has been dead a long time).

The intention I think was Guys though.

Could be "Guise", town of birth of one of my grandmas.
...
Yeah, I think he was trying to use netspeak for "guys".

May? Sounds like they've got plenty of time to plan another delay then.

Yeah, I think he was trying to use netspeak for "guys".

Now, I've seen a lot of differing examples of netspeak, but that is just idiotic. (No offence to OP or anyone else intended.)

You've been on the internet for years and you never heard of 'guise'? lol It's very common.

Anyway, I've never played a DN game and this game just looks like an ordinary shooter to me. Just with boobs. Which means DAY ONE PURCHASE!

I dunno. It's pretty common. Or at least I've seen it pretty often.

I've heard of "guise" as in "cloak". I know it's pronounced the same as "guys" but it's senseless to replace one with the other because "guise" has five letters, "guys" has four. It makes absolutely no sense.

Whatever, on-topic: I couldn't care less about Duke Nukem forever, I'm sure it won't live up to the greatness that was Duke Nukem 3D. :hehe:

I think I saw "guise" used once, but it was many years ago, back when the internet was young and people would turn anything into netspeak if given the chance.

Anyway, I've never played a DN game and this game just looks like an ordinary shooter to me. Just with boobs. Which means DAY ONE PURCHASE!

I just hope they're not censored like they were in the trailer, I haven't broken my emergency "monies for gaems with boobs in dem" piggy bank since the last Lara Croft and I do not wish to be disappointed again.

But then the trailer would be wrong when it says it took 12 years! :o
