Guitar Strings

Post » Wed Oct 20, 2010 11:41 pm

Ok I've had the same .010's on my guitar since they shipped it to me about a year and a half ago. I'm wanting to get some new ones, preferably ones that bend easier like the "Slinky"'s from Ernie Ball. But there's some things that I have no idea what they mean like the numbers next to the name like 2221 or 3115. So first could someone tell me what those numbers mean? and Secondly, any other good brands of "Slinky" style strings I should look for? I'm mostly playing classic rock (Stuff kinda like Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, etc.)

-Thanks! :)

Ernie Ball is the best guitar string brand I've ever used.

I find .010's a bit lightweight for my liking; I prefer .011's for my high E string and .042's for low E. I've had had .047's for low E before, but I think the lighter one is a better all rounder.

I've no idea what the other numbers mean. I used to just buy the same strings all the time after finding ones I liked.

This.

I've also used Everly B 52's a couple times and they've sounded pretty decent.
