gun hand

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 3:56 pm

So i was reading threw the topics and read a few things that may or may not matter to anyone and thought i should make my own. I have not seen much about if they are going to make an option to chose left or right hand as your toon's gun hand and i think it should matter, since i live in a world that makes left handed people deal with a right handed world.
I submit to you that it is easier to change the game then change the world.

Guns are built predominantly as right handed. The shells will eject away from the owner, the safety and trigger guard are usually on the left for easy access to the right handed. Many grips, sights and stocks are even designed for the right handed and only the right handed. While they could put in a 'lefty mode' where all guns are left handed, they would have to create new models for the guns, gun animations, objective animations and even SMART movements (because you gotta hold that gun in the left hand instead of the right). Therefor i doubt this will be implemented.

nah, HL2 did this, and honestly its simply mirror-ing the models, nothing to be build from scratch.
I'm a lefty and used lefty in CSS. so if you, SD, could spare the time: MUCH appreciated

Is there any other game which actually allows you to chose which side your gun is displayed on?

As stated above Hl2, CSS, and I'm fairly sure Portal did as well.

Maybe you could just mirror your screen and learn to read the HUD backwards =D

What Quake II does is take the image and mirror it, like this guy says.

Now I think it is better, in terms of playing the game, if your character's handedness corresponds on where you put your mouse. It is kind of awkward to have a left handed character, and you mouse is on the right side.

I tried that on Quake II, and it just felt weird, and half the time, I just ignored the gun model, and just focused on the crosshairs.
