Gun Runner's Arsenal: A MUST

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 10:41 am

Eh, I'm one of their consumers, too. As are all the other people who aren't as hyped about a "gun pack". Which set of "their consumers" should they listen to?

(And I'd already mentioned that I don't really consider a simple "gun pack" to be real content. As opposed to, you know, quest DLC that include more stories, locations, NPCs, and guns. I certainly wouldn't have the Gun Runners Arsenal DLC for New Vegas if I hadn't bought an "all DLC" pack. It's just not that important/worth the money. To me.)

A SMG is the only weapon type that I think the game lacks. I haven't created every weapon so a 10mm auto pistol may be able to be modded out to function like a SMG.

The 1911, M1, M14, M60, BAR, M16, AK47, lever-actions, .357 revolvers, M79, 9mm auto pistols, and antimateriel rifles, are not modern weapons and easily fit (and have) into the FO framework. I'll be glad to re-post the design dates of each, but everyone can use Google.

Bottom line, I've actually seen very few modern weapons being requested, not to mention most of the above weapons have been in previous Fallout games.

Have you seen the combat rifle/shotgun? Looks fairly modern to me.

That's fair. It's important to me though and I do consider it to be real content, especially if they re-include ammo crafting and ammo types which should never have been dropped in the first place from NV...and its hardly an argument of resources. The game has been in development for seven years, and Obsidian managed to put four of the best DLCs I ever played AND a first class weapon pack. Everyone's happy. I like it when everyone's happy...or at least as happy as a franchise consumer audience could be.

The Deliverer is a Walther PPK, not a Makarov. It has the distinctive silhouette of the Walther.

The .44 revolver is single action.

Too much time on my hands? I mean, I could be playing FO4 right now, but for some stupid reason, I'm reading the forums.

I miss my, er Sydney's 10mm SMG from Fallout 3. I know I can give my 10mm an automatic upgrade, but it's just not the same. I've not seen any 10mm SMGs in Fallout 4, even from weapon merchants.

Zoidberg747 I have to disagree. I have halted my playing of FO4 due to the bugs and lack of guns - I would rather wait and have an unbuggy, deeper experience in a few months. Guns, guns and more guns please......it will take a very long time for them to release a story DLC, I would rather have packed up guns and setllement build options DLC's released ASAP

I was just talking about this with someone on another forum. My character is at level 44 and I've been using the same weapons since I was in the early 20s. I continue to loot items I have tagged (for weapon upgrades, not settlement building) but I'm not sure why. My weapons are fully upgraded and I haven't seen anything new in dozens of hours of gameplay.

I would love to see some sort of massive weapon pack. Yes, mods will be overloading the internet soon, but for us console shlubs, if and when that actually happens probably won't be for quite a long time (next summer... maybe, is my guess).

"retro-futuristic-post apocolyptic game"

What part of that do you not understand?

AK's and m16s and BARs and 1911s will be relics in our own timeline by 2077 yet alone the Fallout timeline. I would rather see Devs put time into weapons and DLC that fit. If you want to replicate weapons like that than they should be done by modders, which they will do anyway. FREE OF COST

The originals had the G11 and p90, both of which at the time looked and worked far ahead of their time so its understandable why they put them in, but that doesnt mean they should bring them back.

If you want a game set in 2287 and yet use the 1911, M1, M14, M60, BAR, M16, AK47 etc etc in the vanilla game than this is not the game for you.

I'm not sure what your point is. All of those weapons, with the exception of the M-14, were either in FO3 or New Vegas. If you hadn't noticed the small arms of FO4 are hybrid design mishmash of the PPSh, BAR and Thompson. They are clearly going for a 20th century look for their weapons. Those weapons were designed at the same time as those you have arbitrarily declared as somehow unfit for the FO universe, believing it so fervently to a point that if we don't accept your infallible declaration, "this isn't the game for us." Yet there all those weapons were in either the Capital Wasteland and Mojave. Hmmm.

The "assault" rifle is a (laughably) WWI design. Your point again?

Feel free to be as dismissive as you want, and tell everyone what "the real truth is." It doesn't make you right, nor your arbitrary declarations as some sort of objective truth. In fact, the evidence of the universe itself contradicts your statement.

Agreed. Maybe the DLC could just include a Gunrunners mail order catalog. Hell I'd be happy with just a Marksman Carbine, but according to some apparently that's not allowed, and we should play something else. Makes me scratch my head as much as thinking about that "assault" rifle.

I don't see a problem with them adding more guns with the first story DLC, a fine compromise between two things people want. More story content and more pew pews.

i was talking about exact clones, but whatever.
Kinda hard to make a game with weapons that don't have at least a little similarity to real world weapons.
But exact clones from a different timeline put into a game based in 2287 makes very little sense.
Regardless, I don't see clone weapons being added as it seems the devs are a lot more artistic this time round.
And as I said before, just because a previous game had it doesn't mean it should be in all of them. Why not add the g11 and p90 as well?

Why not indeed. I am actually one of those asking for designs based on the better real weapons from the time split era. I certainly don't want super regressive designs. Not asking for clones. Just better designs that aren't so (I don't know...steampunkish and off puting) and more choice. The battle rifles of the era could easily be slightly modified to account for a century of progress. Anything would be better than that assault rifle they came up with...and it is the only thing that fires 5.56 rounds. I'm not the only one sitting on a pile of 5.56 right now.

I hear "art" and start flashing back to ME3. Please don't.

Well at least that diffused, thankfully you aren't like the kid from another thread who wants an m4 added to the game.
Regardless, I only see new weapons being added through larger DLC.

A Gun Runners pack would be awesome. Bring the G3 back and make it moddable into an mp5 or sd with the different stock types and sights. They could actually remake all those weapons and coat them with their modern textures and make them all feel new again to play with. Imagine a Chinese ar with different length barrels and mags and sights retextured to meet the quality of the current guns ingame. Look what they did with the combat shotgun. It looks incredible with so many custom options for it.

I would like to see more weapons added to the game, like the GRA pack for New Vegas. I'd even like to see weapons from New Vegas and Fallout 3 make a comback and maybe look different. They did that with the Combat Shotgun. Feeling nostalgic for the Combat Shotty from FO3? Mod it with a Long Barrel, Ring Sights, Drum Magazine, Compensator, and Full stock, and BAM, Fallout 3-esq Combat Shotty.
