yes, but i think no one is really interested in advanced technology in Tamriel now that the Dwemer are gone. People prefer good old magic.

Yes, it could be lorically (not a real word, but I get your meaning) possible.. so could alot of things. It has nothing to do with Dwemer.

Actually it does, because they were only race that was developing technology instead of beliving in gods and using all kinds of magic.
And they could find gunpowder (as long as it would exist in TES world) very usefull.
Other races wouldn`t probably find any good use for it if it would be discovered or something.

Without going way off track, that isn't completely true. They did believe in gods, but they shunned them. They used magic, alot of it.
Anyone could find gunpowder useful.

It is unknown whether the Dwemer worshiped any Gods. However, it is known that they despised and scorned the Daedra, mocking their "foolish" rituals. In The Battle of Red Mountain, it is mentioned that "[they] preferred instead their gods of Reason and Logic." These may be metaphorical terms, but the fact that Vivec, the author, capitalized them suggests otherwise.

Since the Dwarves died so long ago, it is not know exactly what they were like. What we do know about the Dwemer in general is that they were reclusive, powerful, and tended to use "technology" over magic (the Dwarves at Stros M'Kai were reliant on steam power).

We know that they were feared- by the Dunmer, by the Nords, by the Redguards, perhaps even by the Gods. Some might say that, in this respect, the Dwemer were "blasphemous". They challenged the power of the Et'Ada (Aedra and Daedra), questioned their authority, and travelled into the "Outer Realms".

Kysio,

the most significant piece of technology created by the Dwemer was the Anumidium. The Brass God in the image and size of the et'Ada, it was a medium to transcend the Grey Maybe. It should really be no surprise that in a world were myth and magic are real, Logic and Reason would seek to utilize this more effectively then merely believing in gods and magic. It's also quite telling that the project was lead by Kargrenac, the High Priest of the Dwemer.

You shouldn't expect the Dwemer to come up with something as mundane gunpowder. They were well beyond that point.

edit:

This post is way to short to get in all the details, go look yourself.

Perhaps you should read the title, and the first post.

We are discussing if gunpowder would fit into TES without violating any lore.

This isn't a qeustion of lore, but perhaps I should rephrase the original qeustion.

Is there anything against the existence of outhouses or bathrooms? The answer is no because there is no explicit mention against them. Quite a few things might actually imply their existence.

Yet you'll never see one ever. Why is that?

It is entirely possible that a society in complete isolation from earth would invent internet before anyone started dinking around with saltpetre. Possible? Yes, and there were explosives in Tribunal, and easy-to-obtain ones in Redguard. But why not come up with the Bessemer Process first?

Imagine if that bridge across the Niben suddenly started walking towards Nchulingeft, scalding the flowers with steam.

Yes yes, we all know the fat handicapped Dwemer in the Corprusarium. They were not all fat, perhaps just him because of his lack of exercise. Anyways, the Dwemer are a dead race. He's probably dead by now.

Sentinel has cannons on their walls. So yes. I have an RP going with a pretty good focus on the area with cannons involved.

As for the usefulness of gunpowder of course it would be useful. Mages are hard to train, not all of them are saviors of cyrodiil or whatever with 800 points of magic and what not. A peasant with a tube, some gun powder and a lead ball will be much cheaper to train than a decent mage. Mages have a far further reaching potential but few ever reach it.

You don't die of natural death if you have corpus disease, so he probably is still alive.

Very true, but he might as well be dead. He serves no purpose in the future of TES.

He gives Divayth Fyr some company

But more on topic, I know the dwemer were able to make their robots fire guns. You have to fight them in the Tribunal expansion, and their ammo is classified as darts. Not to mention those robots hurt a lot
