I will gladly accept a crossbow to reign down an apocalypse of arrows down on my enemies. On topic: We all know that the TES games has gaps in between each other, advancing in time and technology, meaning that we'll eventually get to use of guns one way or another. (unless that is a meteor hits Tamriel and wipes out most races, and survivors turn into barbaric cavemen)
Why? If magic can mimic technology in any aspect (sometimes even better)
Why they need technology?
Planes? They have levitation.
Cars? Just fortify speed.
Guns? Enchanted bows and crossbows can deliver same damage.
Body armor? Armor with shield enchantment.
Hell, mages can teleport, create fire, ice or electricity in their hand.
I dare you, say at least one thing that technology can, but magic can't do.
