Guns.

............NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! if they took crossbows out, what makes you think that they'll put guns in? It has been said many times, so do not get mad when I reiterate "This is not Fable"

Exactly. This IS NOT Fable, TES is Fable minus guns. A lot of people don't realize the nuance of this, it's an easy mistake to make. Because if you add guns, obviously you get a rip off of Fable.

TES =/= Fable
TES + Guns = Fable
TES = Fable - Guns

It's simple algebra people!!

Well, there are a lot of differences between TES and Fable. It commonly compared, and they are VERY different. Most of the fans (especially on this site) hate the comparison. But still, we want to stay away from Fable as much as we can

Unless I'm missing your point, I suppose a stalf's effectiveness should be based on a player's skill.

Yeah, they SHOULD be based on players' skill, but they aren't in OB.
My point is this, though: Why bother developing a complex, multi-part, difficult-to-use gun when there's a simple point-and-shoot magical stick that doesn't malfunction?

Fable = Very Bad

Considering the equation A + B = C, let's do some plugging and chugging.

TES is A, guns are B. Fable is C,

TES + Guns = Fable

Simple, yes?

Now, considering Fable = Very Bad, let's substitute Very Bad in for C.

A + B = C

TES + Guns = Very Bad.

The most simple of algebraic equations tells the tale, we should avoid guns.

So something that is very bad minus TES equals guns, and something very bad minus guns equals TES.

...what?

If you don't want guns, why do you keep criticizing peoples' reasons for not wanting them in either? Stop bumping this thread with that nonsense. It's getting old...

I want guns in Skyrim. This is what TES is really missing.

Flintlock guns, machine guns, hand grenades, laser blasters, light sabers and nuclear devices to name the least.

Which means we should have appropriate skillset for these - well, light sabers could stay in ongsword skills i guess... Obviosuly, hand grenades should have a skill on their own, unless throwing knives skills is in.

This also means Armour sets should have an additional resistance possibility to the 'elements' laser and nuclear stuff.

I'm sorry, but this is TES, not Star Wars. Hell, what you say might even fit in Fallout, since only the lightsabers would need to be added. but please, TES is pretty much the only decent RPG (read as: there are no decent RPGs that are still set in medieval times) around that hasn't changed because of technology yet (well, Two Worlds 2 made a step in the right direction, but it's definitely a different game altogether)

You're right. I do spend more time replying to this thread than I ought to. But the whole thread is getting old, not just my replies. The real posts that bother me are the one word "No" comments. Anyways, sayonara technophobes.

Its fine. I do that all the time.

Though it probably isn't going to happen. If this thread is any indicator, people would flip out at just holding a stave a different way if it were close to a gun. So instead I'll be dual wielding one handed staves, lightning in one and soul trap in the other. It'll be a pretty unstobable combo when cuppled with Azura's Star. I'll do it just to spite everyone too. :P No guns? Well, excuse me when I dragonshout teleport behind an enemy and lightning them to death with one stave while I svck out their soul with the other so I'll always have some spare ammo.

Stealth, which would be the anti-combat.

These gun topics irk me. It's pretty much like asking for swords and magic in CoD. Not gonna happen... ever.

... isn't there a machete in CoD? Combat knives?

No - not really. It's similar, but there's a particular vibe of flat-out, Klebold/Harris creepiness I get from the gun-obsessed posters that's not shared by, for instance, the ones who want to ride dragons.

I wasn't talking about riding dragons... like the creepiness of people who want to "live" the game, or have "mental connections" to their characters... that sort of creepiness...

The closest thing to guns in Skyrim should be a crossbow.

Since it has been a huge topic on another forum I've recently visited, I'm really curious what you think about this. What is your opinion on including guns. Well, I don't know if someone has already started this subject but I'm really curious.

I don't want guns. I mean, a lot of people already think that Oblivion is Fallout without guns, and let's face it, it is a medieval theme RPG. Guns won't fit the theme and I think it will be ruined. Of course Skyrim will be some years ahead and there might be a few technological changes, but I don't want any guns.

I think you mean to say fallout is oblivion with guns. TES destroys fallout.

Screw the lot of you, guns all the way!!!

NAHHHHHHH just kidding. Although i wouldnt mind cannons and maybe the odd flint-lock pistol, which was invented in the 1600's so is still pretty old, I cant see guns playing any role in TES. Magic and technology dont really mix.

??

I'm not sure what "mental connections" with a character entail - sounds like some sort of ESP thing - but "living" the game (at least within the limits imposed by the fact that it's a game) is sort of the point of a roleplaying game.

Are you sure you're in the right genre?

Hey Hey Hey, Fallout is a good RPG. For ages i wanted a game just like oblivion with guns.
And two worlds 2..... i wanted to play it but none of the game shops in my area got it becouse apparently its sh*t.
EDIT- just realisd you said only one in medieval times. i guess you could compare the fallout times to the medieval in terms of everyday struggle.

Feather
Open Lock
Buoyancy
Charm
Calm
Light
Chameleon
Life Detection
Telekinesis

Just to name a few.

And btw, my answer for guns is No. I don't need to go into the why's and whereforths of not wanting them. I just don't want them to become a part of this series. There are so few games now without guns and I do so enjoy not having them in this game. So, no...just no.

Guns don't belong in TES. I just don't think it would suit the lore, or the games, very well. imo

I've said about various other things that everyone has the right to discuss things they want/don't want in this game on this forum. After all, its what the forum is for... but on the other hand, there are rules against spam... and even though a few people seem to think guns or non-magical technological advancements are desirable, the majority of those that do not want such things is so great, and the inclusion of them would so drastically change the "nature" of the game (not if its good or not, that is an "opinion", but the genre) that honestly, threads about guns should be against the forum rules. This is getting stupid, and its spam. The inclusion of technology and guns is not an intriguing controversial opinion, its a spam opinion that just starts threads where every other post is the word "No" or someone linking a video that screams no... spam spam spam. I would be very much in favor of any thread about guns to be locked immediately.
