By the nine, no! They just don't fit TES at all ... They'd be almost as odd as seeing someone drive a Ferrari in TES.

I would be pretty [censored] pissed off if Bethesda were to include guns in TES series

There seems to be no point. I mean, if our characters can throw fireballs and lightning from their fingertips, it seems pointless to have guns. One of the things Bethesda certainly does right is they ignore the small crowd of players who keeps asking for guns in TES. Thank goodness for that.

OTOH they did give us giant (and regular-sized) robots, including those from outer space as well as the terrestrial ones...

I’ve seen a pair of cannons at the Kvatch Mages Guild. They wear a blue dress. :P

No guns for me, thanks for asking.

If people keep it to their mods I don't care. If Bethesda put it in I will be dissapointed and probably rage a whole lot on it.

Agreed! They're completely unnecessary.

I′d rather say horribly misplaced. Why even think of having guns in a fantasy/medieval game?? :o

Because it's cheaper and easier to shove a musket in the hand of a peasant then to train a mage to shoot something that'll leave more then a little mark. That's my take anyways. Besides, doesn't Sentinel have the secret of gunpowder, giving the opportunity for guns in games?

I still don't want them though.

This fits with the lore, though. Weren't the robots made by the Dwemer, that lost race whose technology got ahead of them? They were so smart, much smarter than any other race extant in our games, right?

I spent a few hours reading up on the Dwemer a few weeks ago, forgive me if I'm getting this wrong, but I seem to remember they tried to replicate the moment of creation or something? I dont' have a problem with their mechanical gizmos, then. If they were that smart and technologically-advanced, I don't mind some leftover relics here and there.

My problems with guns in TES would be the following:

1). They'd destroy the mood and tone currently being set in the world of Tamriel.

2). Guns are already in hundreds of other vid games, Do we really need them in TES? Personally, if I want guns, I can always fire up one of my old Tomb Raider games. Or Vice City.

3). IF Bethesda were to add guns in the next game, I would hope they would make them similar to what would have been available during medieval Earth times, the way swords and armors and other period pieces are seen. In effect, the guns of medieval times would have been very crude weapons which take awhile to clean & reload. They were also wildly inaccurate, messy, and TES's magics should be the better alternative, otherwise what would be the point of all those fancy thrown magic spells?

Most of the robots were made by the Dwemer, and I agree that it fits in with the background Bethesda gave them. The latest one is from outer space though. It is a DLC for Skyrim, a space probe that falls from the sky in front of you. Yeah, very immersive...

I agree about the guns. If you add guns to the mix, it is no longer a fantasy roleplaying game. It becomes a guns roleplaying game. May as well just play Fallout 3 then.

I wouldn't object if guns were handled similarly to the way they are handled in World of Warcraft. That game features http://wow.mmodb.com/images/items/renders2/20654-l.jpg and flintlock pistols that are the product of Dwarven technology.

One of my favorite Morrowind mods was the Dwemer Glider mod. It was probably not strictly true to lore, but, in my opinion, it was probable. While guns are not part of ES lore (yet) I feel they are arguably equally probable, given Dwemer technology. Frankly, a WoW-style blunderbuss would feel less out of place to me than robots.

I believe there are several Dwemer Gun mods for Oblivion. Those Dwemer (aka Dwarves) were quite clever.

Have you played Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura? It's an RPG where the forces of technology are in opposition to the forces of magick, and you can play a character whose skills lie anywhere across the spectrum between. It's actually quite a good game.
