My advice is don't get your hopes up without knowing what's going to be in the game. Been there, done that.

I'll be a lot less anxious when I see some real game footage.

This. Seems a little reckless to suggest without seeing anything from the game that it will be great.

It will hardly betray my expectations, though. I will always like Morrowind better than Oblivion, but no matter how much of a step-back Oblivion was, I loved it. So yeah, not the most logical attitude but I understand the claim from the OP.

It goes back to Oblivion and the problems with that. Alot of TES hardcoe fans, myself included, feel like we got burned by Oblivion. I personally wont' get my hopes up until I see more about the game, which I'm hoping the February issue of Game Informer will do.

I was disappointed with Oblivion too, but now that Beth had some time to get accustomed to new tech and saw the feedback from Oblivion I trust that this won't be a letdown.

And that 0.000001% is if Todd Howard were to die, but seeing that he's http://media.animevice.com/uploads/0/6869/168144-1048624_675020_mr._immortal_super_super_super.jpg, it's near to impossible.

I hope that Skyrim won't be a let down, I really do as I'm itching for a new RPG and there is nothing that will do it but a TES RPG. I just can't play Oblivion any more, and I need new rig before playing any computer games so PC Oblivion with mods is out.

I'm excited about the news of a new TES RPG, don't get me wrong. I'm just not getting my hopes up that we'll get a real challenging RPG until I see more information.

I'm very optimistic about Skyrim. Part of that is because I don't really have any expectations of what it should be like I just want to adventure and explore what it will be like. Plus for any faults Oblivion had it will be interesting to see how things change from it, it was a good game but they've had a lot of time working on Skyrim I hope Skyrim tries to best the playing experience of the previous game since some mechanics were interesting in concept but not so great in practice.

Oh Bethesda can disapoint, disapoint very much. Many were disapointed with Morrowind. We (alot of people, not all) eventually loved Morrowind.
Then Oblivion was released. Many were disapointed. We (alot, not all) eventually love Oblivion as well. I am sure alot (not all, but alot) will be
disapointed with Skyrim as well and then (alot of people, not all) will love the game as well.

So will Skyrim be an awsome game? Yes. Will it be awsome as we start playing? Yes, then about 2 or 3 hours afterwards, we will find things that
is not Daggerfall/Morrowind/Oblivion that we will complain about then a few days or weeks later we will all love the game again.

Almost no one? Since it was announced this forum has been a flood of pre-order declarations and wide-eyed fantasies about how it will be the greatest thing in history beyond all possible doubt.

Enjoy the relative peace of the forums now because once we get the GI infomation and first screens people will be disappointed and people will most definitely complain about all aspects that they find displeasing often in part because their expectations was too high or simply unrealistic like guns in TES. In fact you had loads of people already mad because the game was set in Skyrim earning crys of "Skyrim is all snow!" or upon hearing of dragons in the teaser people crying out cliche or TES is becoming more generic fantasy when dragons has been a part of the lore for quite some time. Granted I'm expecting a great and memorable game but I'm still keeping my standards away from the absurd and more into the realms of reality without falling into mediocrity.

The old-guard will get pissed about some gameplay feature or another. There'll be boycotts when it's discovered that the game still employs optional fast travel.

I can't conceive this game being anything less than stellar, but that's not going to satiate the nay-sayers who are pleased by nothing short of "Morrowind II: The Giant, Lifeless Crater".

My hopes are very high, and I know Bethesda will succeed in providing a deep, engrosing and gigantic RPG that will take 500 hours of my life.

Giving the "people will always complain" excuse for oblivion is simply not enough. The game was broken as an RPG, so clearly Skyrim can infact be bad. I however like what they did with the Fallout games, and that was on the same engine. So yea I actually do think SKyrim will be awesome, but Oblivion will always made me very sceptical untill I actually see something concrete game mechanics
