So i hacked a sentry bot.

Post » Sat Dec 12, 2015 12:10 am

Thought it'd be a useless feature so i only just tried it tonight, but it's surprisingly fun.

Everytime it dies it respawns after some time, and follows your fast travel just like a companion.

Great out in the open, but tragic when you go inside buildings,it gets stuck everywhere.

I was thinking though,if it follows commands and can fast travel with you and respawn, why don't beth allow hacked bots to become part of your settlements?Hack a bot and tell it to go to whatever settlement you want, whereupon it'll become part of the settler count.Sure, wouldn't be much use for growing crops or running stores, but they could put in a patrol feature where you choose it in commands then lay down waypoints for bots to patrol.I'd love a few sentry bots patrolling my walls :(

I've grown attached to my bot.

So.. you are saying you hacked a bot and liked it? Yes, I couldn't resist, a play on words from a kate perry song.

Anyhow, bots for settlements needs to happen. If just so we can finally use guard-posts and etc, without losing settlers doing things of actual value. (Scavenging, farming, operating my shops)

A offical version of the ROBCO Certified mod would be awesome......where you could hack or repair robots to have as minions, guard settlements, ect.

...lol

Yeah well,if you could place bots in settlements while going over the settler count limit that would be just be awesome.Maybe have 2 seperate limits, the settler and like 5 or 10 for hacked bots :P

Like the idea as well, same goes for sacrificing a settler for upkeep. Save the no limit for mods and such though, if you want a bot guarding or farming (Bosworth was the bloody maid it should be able to pick carrots :P ) in your settlement it should take a slot and require upkeep IMO.

I assigned Codsworth to farm for me.

Also the sentry bot respawning and following you sounds like a bug to me not sure if that was intentional but it sounds cool.

Hmm, did you do that BEFORE the option of having him as a companion? As far as I can tell, once they are companionable (see what I did there? hehe) they can no longer be assigned to anything.

Cheers.

Wow, can you imagine how OP that would be. Group of Super Mutants attack your large farm, "Stupid humans, have no big guns!" "INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT!" Dead Super Mutants everywhere. LOL

Thank you. And thank you for the spoiler tag. Pity the e-mail notification ruins it. :( I'll know in future not to read the e-mail but just come straight to the thread.

Cheers. :)

I hacked this crazy guy today...

http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/387670047318524966/404E3FA5DA29CA3BB313A582AB57C8FE5C8EE903/

Like the Sentry Bot, he's hostile towards anything but me. Took down 2 BOS Knights and a Vertibird while we were traveling through the Commonwealth, so . . . I had to shut him down hahaha.

They're crazy powerful. Just for lolz, I spawned 4 Legendary Mythic Deathclaws on him, and he was the only one standing in the end. Did it without my help...

How did you guys get it to last long. I hacked a protectron in the subway and he only followed me around for a minute or so before returning to his normal route? If I can get bots to actually follow me then I will definitely pick that perk again.

Hacking sentry bots never works for me, i never get the " hack " option even when I hover over different parts of his body. Any idea why? I do have at least one perk in Robotics expert.
