Had locked 60 fps - now I have locked 30 fps

Dear Bethesda,

first of all: great game, thank you for developing it :)

Now my problem:

Since Installation, I had the game at constant 60 fps (locked). It ran smooth and stable.

But since today, I have it now locked at 30 fps - so it isnt as smooth as before :-(

The strange thing - what I did: ... nothing! I know, the support-customer always lies, but I swear :) I did the following:

  1. playing a little while (at 60 fps)

  2. deleting some older savegames ingame, then quitting to desktop to let steam sync the cloud

  3. restart game

  4. right from the menu, the game was at 30 fps and... sluggish?

Also I had the impression, that the surrounding from where I saved was much darker, but I'm not absolutely shure of that.

(I was on a mission with Paladin Danse, where you have to aquire a antenna thingy and saved right before the console, where you reactivate the power of the building)

  5. I did not install any update, change anything, no restart etc etc

I was confused and did the following:

  • restart(s)

  • google for known issues, nothing found

  • check integrity of game files via steam, no problems found

  • let the Fallout Launcher re-check my system and recommend game settings

(result: same as before, max details)

  • after this file-check I realised, that the game difficulty changed from hard to normal.

    set it back to hard

Do you have a explanation and a possible solution for this problem? This would be great :D

PS:

My System:

  • Windows 10 Home 64 Bit

  • CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 v3 @3.4 GHz

  • RAM: 8 GB

  • GFX: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970

Game Settings:

  • Steam-patched Version (1.2.37.0.0), no beta-patch

  • 1920x1080 / Fullscreen / Antialising: TAA / Anisotroph Filter: 16 Samples / Details: Extreme

  • no mods

  • gamefile manipulation: after installation, i disabled mouse acceleration.

    It ran great until today

  • additional software: Auto-Hotkey, to fix the not working key-reassignment

    (since first installation)

Thanks in advance!

Edit: detailed Game-Version added

Have steam finished the job before you started the game again?

Have you tried to disable cloud sync, and start your game that way after?

Also check if you have changed (accidentaly) your GPUs Vsync to: Adaptive (half refresh rate) !

Hi, thanks for reply :)

Yes, Steam finished.

No, I didn't disable the cloud sync, because only the saves are stored, right?

Well steam cloud should sync other stuff to, but why you don't disable it, and see if it chanced anything with your game fps?

1) In your Steam Library, right-click on Fallout 4 and select "Properties."

2) Click the "Updates" tab.

3) Uncheck: Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Fallout 4.

4) Click Close.

Hi again,

I tested this, but unfortunately there was no difference/change.
