Hair Colour Slider

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:39 am

I like how in most games like Runescape, Oblivion, adventure quest and other RPGs all have different hair colour options.
Me.. I always have white hair because thats what I like and I hope that the hair colour slider will be in Skyrim as it was in oblivion.

It would make no sense to get rid of it so yeah it'll probably be there.

I'm sure Skyrim will have it. Bethesda's last games had it.

I hope for more eye colors, preferably in the form of sliders like the hair sliders in Oblivion and Fallout 3.

I'm a bit dissapointed about the removal of facial feature sliders at least for humans. I know they can be used to make the character look ugly, but other games have done it well and I'd like to have the option at least, rather than just shape presets. I hope that there is a lot of presets at least. I don't want to see 2 identical NPCs.

I think in the podcast, Todd said something about the npcs in Oblivion all looking ugly, and so they removed the sliders and replaced them with preset options, so that it worked well for all races with different features and they didn't look ugly.

I guess there will still be sliders for adjusting the size of some of these presets. Did he specifically say that all the sliders were gone?

If there are dozens of parts to choose between for each face feature, just think of the ridiculous number of different beards in new vegas, then I am sure there will be plenty to prevent there from being any identical NPCs.

I think he said that there will be less options than oblivion, but I'm not sure.

Yes, but most of the options in Oblivion were pointless anyway.

I only played that once but I think I remember the facial/hair design being very limited.

Preset options aren't that bad. Actually, I prefer presets myself.

Here is what I did with a couple of presets.

Don't worry, you can still make Oblivion like faces.

:P

PS. I wonder if someone can guess who I was sketching in first pic but it is unlikely, I wasn't that good. The second pic is actually a random image from web, I don't know why but it looks like Oblivion faces.
PPS. I know 2D is different from 3D but I am just giving an example. :)

application is here:

I beleive it's also been said that while there are preset features, you can select them and alter their size/positioning on the face.

This is true (from the Podcast).

I'm all for preset features. As long as there are many choices for hair and beards, I'll be stoked.

Less slider options in the sense you had to be an artist and spend 10 hours to make your characters face that no matter how much work and time you put into it still looked silly.
More options as in much better pregenerated faces, and face peices.. Kinda like playing Mr and Mrs Patatoe head.

Overall the facial customizing has improved a lot, expect only an improvement in this department.

No, it was in Fallout: New Vegas as well.

You can rest somewhat easy as Bethesda Game Studios didn't make NV. Bethesda Softworks Published it but Obsidian actually did the legwork. Chances are we will get the hair color option as a simple hue slider is very easy to implement. If not I can guarantee I will release a mod that has each hairstyle in every color from Alabaster to Zymenchlora! Probably eyes too, I love Ren's Beauty Pack

I don't have a clue as to what Skyrim will offer, but character creation is a significant highlight of my personal gaming experience.

That is absolutely amazing control over mesh morphing.

What is even more amazing and quite unsettling is how tremendously apparent that neck seam is. Guess technology can not yet defeat this menacing foe and i just hope I live to see the day when this is somehow over come. At least it is extremely minimal in the http://thewormhole.nfshost.com/OblivionSkyrimCompare.png.
