Halo: Reach discussion

Post » Tue Nov 10, 2009 4:31 am

Halo 2 was the reason I got Xbox Live back on the original Xbox, and I was not disappointed with it. Regardless of what people say about the Halo games, they are damn good when it comes to online multiplayer, few games even come close.

Alsong as it isnt as abd as MW2 it dosent matter. Do people camp alot ?

The way the game is set up on multiplayer, you can't really "camp" spawn points, there are so many of them. Some people do camp the power weapon spawn locations but, that's going to happen in every game.

Why arent those weapons randomly spawned so people wont camp them ?

I can't answer that, although that's just not how Halo games are. The power weapons have always been in specific locations. Just their style.
And I don't have a problem with that, at all. It gives team players a chance to be able to get what they are good at.
Take me for example, when I played competitively at Halo 3, the team I played with knew my strong points, my weak points, and I knew theirs. That let us coordinate who went for what weapon accordingly. I always picked up one of the sniper rifles on The Pit, and my teammate headed to the sword room and turning around to the other teams sniper spawn, trying to get it before they did, or killing whomever had it. It's strategy.

I hope they bring back old levels, sandtrap and valhalla ftw.

The abilitiy where the elites can crouch down and become invincible looks a bit iffy, that might be a bit overused, but it doesnt look overpowered cause they cant move and teh spartans have the sprint ability, so i guess it kinda balances out. Bungie have really put a lot of effort into this game, i think it could be game of the year (but i think there are better ones out there).

They cant move but I bet someone will wait around a corner with that and a shotgun/sword, also why in a vid did I see a spartan stand still and glow blue ?

I'm pretty sure armour lock is Spartan only, and even if it makes you invincible you are easy pickings for a few seconds after.

Like the Spartan Armor, the Elites ability to crouch and go invisible more than likely doesn't last forever, you can't just do it whenever you want. There is probably an internal cooldown on the ability, and a duration.

Not sure. I'd imagine it does, though. Kinda pointless to not remove you from radar seeing as the radar is the primary resource for finding hostiles mid to close range.

It does jam enemy radars though.

That's actually pretty cool, hope that makes live.
I wish I could play Beta so bad. :( I have a beta key, but I don't have the net access at the moment. Sigh.

Looks like a fun multiplayer game. As far as Halo's concerned, I never really payed attention to any of the campaigns. They feel more like afterthoughts compared to the depth of the online play.

If you feel like letting that Beta key loose don't hesitate to let me know. :P

Armor lock will probably be tweaked between here and release so don't worry too much about balancing for the moment.

WHAT!?

So they left Microsoft... for Activision!? That's an incredibly stupid mistake, Bungie...

I'm speechless. I thought they were going for world domination? Oh well, hopefully this "alliance" won't become an abomination.

Bahaha. Activision starts to panic when their flagship Modern Warfare 2 devs jump ship, so they bring in the Halo devs to reassert their hold on the American FPS market and hopefully keep making billions of dollars.
