halo style record video/screenshot system

Post » Mon Jan 03, 2011 7:32 pm

Hello, i was thinking it would be cool if we could have a mode that we could switch on off and record our progress before we embark on a quest, or fight a dragon, and being able to pause angle rewind and take screen shots of your most epic moments, not to mention it would be cool to take screens of your player with the amazing lush environment, anyone think this is a good idea, oh and i made a similar thread about this the other day but i think why nobody looked at it is because it got buried behind newer threads so fast and no one could see it, so please leave your comments.

Get a capture card.

I dont mean to flame but they did this in halo because the "playback data" is the same data thats used for networking (multiplayer) purposes. And as such it was "easy" to implement the theater feature with limited hassle (seeing as the stuff was already there).

No need for Bethesda to waste development time on this nonsense.

One word: Fraps.

EDIT: PS, Caps Lock is not "Cruise Control for Cool."

No. We can do without the gimmicky features created for games with very little content.

oh and i made a similar thread about this the other day

Should have bumped that thread then instead of creating this one.

I'd definitely like some kind of in-game SC and film option. I'm not tech-savvy and it took me forever to figure out how to take SC in Oblivion. It would be awesome to be able to film your epic moments! Without 3rd party programs which you have to spend hours to figure out and mess with install.

@little content? Halo was epic in it's own right.

You can, doesn't have to be in the actual game. http://hubpages.com/hub/Guides-to-Recording-Xbox-360-Gameplay-to-Desktop-or-Laptop This is assuming you on console, if your not, then it should be even easier.

EDIT: sorry new at this and don't know how to bump

I'll try to walk you through it:

Step 1: Find old thread.

1a: Going to your profile and clicking "Topics" is a handy way of accomplishing Step 1.

Step 2: Post in it.

Done, with the new post the thread comes back to the first page, having been "bumped" there.

Although I agree with you, I find your attitude a little silly.
Gimmicky? How was the playback feature in Halo gimmicky? Do you know what the word "gimmick" means?

Just Cause 2 has such a feature. It was fun to record and show someone, but I don't know if Skyrim will be the kind of game that should have a recording feature.

Stop with this argument please. Bethesda is a very very large company now if you haven't noticed, if they can't add things like this without it impacting on other parts of development then they need to fire their project managers.

Edit: There is a difference between just recording a video of whats happening, and recording data like player and enemy locations and movements in order to re-render them again later in the demo viewer.
They already have the tools to record world states and replay them later, because they'll use them for trailers and what not.

I don't see it as anything important or essential to the game but in a perfect world heck yeah throw it in.

It would be an interesting idea...seeming how much more versatile to the community it would be to use instead of buying a capture card and having to go through the hassle of wires/connections/uploads. I don't think it'll be used because of the advanced-stage of development that the game is in already.
