Halo Trilogy coming to PC?

Post » Sat May 17, 2014 10:58 pm

I've been itching to play through the Halo Trilogy again, and remember talk of it coming to PC through STEAM a while back. After looking into the matter on Google, all that turned up was rumors and speculation.

Anyone have any idea on this?

I don't think any Halo games were ever not available for PC.

Talk of Halo 3 coming to steam.

Heard nothing else about it.

The 1st and 2nd ones came out on PC.

Now that the Xbox One is out and has no backwards compatibility, MS may consider releasing Reach, ODST, 3, and 4 on PC because they can no longer make any more money from the 360.

Halo: CE and Halo 2 are both available on PC. CE works perfectly, Halo 2 requires Vista at least.

Can't say I ever see M$ releasing any more Halo games on PC. They rely on them too much as system-sellers for the Xbox to make them multi-platform. Why release a PC version if you know making them Xbox-exclusive is more likely to make people buy your console?

Halo 1 was. Was going to be a PC exclusive till Ms showed up with wads of money wanting it as a launch title for the Xbox. A good move for the Xbox, but it meant the Pc version got delayed.

Halo 2 got a pc release too. But again, Ms stepped it became a Vista only title requiring Directx 10. Except it didn't require DX10. It ran fine on XP and Dx9, it just had a launcher that detected if Vista was installed and stopped it installing and running if Vista wasn't present.

None of the other Halo games got a PC look in.

My bad. I stopped paying attention after one so should have just stayed out of it.

I was thinking about that yesterday. Well, not Halo, but it would be so nice if Microsoft released both Lost Odyssey and Shadow Complex on Steam now that the 360 is "dead". After all, few other Microsoft published 360 exclusive games eventually found their way to Steam too, like Dust: An Elysian Tail.

I have Halo CE on PC but not Halo 2. I wish they'd release Halo 3 on PC, but MS probably won't. Bastards...

I am sure they will just port them all to One...

I'd like to see Halo Wars on PC, but then I think I am the only person in the world that actually liked that game.

Could care less, Halo looks like a nerfed and generic shooter.

How much less can you care then? I reckon quite a lot, since you care so very much about it you felt it was needed to post about it. In other words, you care a lot about Halo.

Halo may be a common shooter from a gameplay perspective, but its the plot of the campaign that makes it stand out..

much better then the plot of most FPS's

Although it may have all the good writing a good plot needs, it wasn't written by Rockstar so therefore :yuck:

Will all the people regurgitating their generic responses that we've all heard before kindly leave? This thread is to speculate whether or not we will be seeing some well-loved games from our past reach a system it was always meant to be on, not get into a arguement that resembles the old "console wars" nonsense.

How is the current version of Halo 2 on PC? I heard the port was terrible, and doesn't play on anything but Vista unless cracked.

Really good move... More than 50% of the original Xbox sales sold with the original Halo game, from what I've read... Halo basically got the Xbox thing going XD.

But anyways. Halo CE and Halo 2 are for PC and I honestly play Halo CE a lot still online. Might go and play it here soon actually.

Rockstar did GTA, right?

Halo plot > GTA plot... Just saying.

Nah. That's Call of Duty.

Side-Note: (Halo CE and Halo Reach are my favorite two Halos; they are the most unique out of all of them).

I love Halo Wars. Ye'h, it probably would be better on PC but still did a good job on Xbox...

I honestly think Halo 3 might get released on PC just to have the original 3 on PC. But nothing else beyond that.

I want non-steam versions... If Microsoft release Halo 3 via Steam only, I am so gonna be unhappy >=/...

Just to be nitpicky , it was going to be a Mac/PC release (possibly Mac first? Bungie was showing off the game originally alongside Jobs at Macworld Expo....). Until, as you say, MS bought up Bungie just to get themselves an exclusive.

Excellent argument you have there. Many good points made.

I could have swore I heard the more recent Halo games may come to PC. Would be cool to play Halo 3 like that.

I couldn't agree more, I thought the controls where brilliant, seeing as it was specifically designed for a console. If they do port it to PC I would want full controller support, there is not better way to play it. That also reminds me of Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth II has amazing console controls. I am also one of the few that really liked ODST. It was nice stepping out of the suit of a genetically engineered super soldier for once, and into the boots of an ordinary trooper. It was a great experience.

Edit: I wasn't going to say anything but I can't ignore it. If you don't like Halo what are you guys doing in this thread? You are just needlessly spewing your opinion to an audience who does not care.

Also I heard the original Halo was going to be a Mac exclusive before it became an Xbox game. So glad MS Swooped in and bought it.

Being the one who been the most active in this thread so far, you're clearly the person who is the most excited about this. No need for the false modesty.
