While "trying" to get to Halldir's Cairn for the Bard College quest, I finally ran into Barbas outside of Falkreath. I had visited quite a few times previously, but had avoided him thus far. So... off to Haemar's Shame we go. (I hate this quest...)

Barbas literally runs through the place barking nearly every step of the way. So much for "sneaky archer" mode. I finally decide to switch to my dual wield mode and then he blocks the damned passageway while I am getting drained by Vampires. (Can I please kill the damned dog?)

Anyway, we get to the shrine, do our chatting and I go to loot the chest. Looking at the statue of Clavicus Vile, I reach into the chest and pull out... Merida's Beacon! Should Clavicus be upset about this?

I was almost half expecting Sam to show up and challenge me to a drinking contest, though I am not high enough level yet. Maybe Hermaeus might be hanging out at the entrance, all "wild tentacly"

Well, if it wasn't Haemar's Shame it would have been Halldir's Cairn, I swear that place has too many quest items spawning in the chest, I once got 3!
