[WIPz] Hammerfell

:(

Will there be an option for it to be in the same worldspace?

This generally causes problems with the game engine's maximum allowed worldspace size, especially when trying to run more than one province add-on mod. Unfortunately, for now at least, separate worldspaces provide the most freedom for modders to create as big and interesting landscapes as possible and keep them the most compatible with each other without compromise.

Yeah, that is true. I just love the feeling of walking seamlessly from one province to another. :)

Even if there was, it wouldn't be compatible with Onra's heighmap, as it (onra's heightmap) stretches out the provinces to allow for more gameplay room.

If someone wants to convert it all to the Tamriel worldspace, they are welcome to. The team won't be doing it though, because it would be an incalculable amount of effort. We are however trying to make the transition as seamless as possible - I don't think it will hugely break immersion to enter through the designated border forts.

I'm fine with Hammerfell being new world space. I mean its not like Elsweyr, where its more a matter of convenience and the providence serves as a great alternate route from south Cyrodiil to western Cyrodiil. Anequina is much better off that way as I'm constantly passing through there on my way between Skingrad and Leyawin. Hammerfell is up to the north and odds are if I want to travel through that providence, I am going there just for hammerfell, not just passing through and enjoying the pretty sights and change of scenery. Add to that, you have the colovian highlands stretching on the border which would probably restrict your access to the region to just a few routes assuming you aren't going by ship.

Meh, it makes sense in my mind, sorry if anyone is lost by my ramblings.

Giving this a little bump :) I've been rather busy with the http://www.imperial-library.info/, but I got around to puttting some new interiors up and they are going fast. Shadowbeast and I are also working on fixing up the Helkori.

Though I do not work for the team, I have been lurking on their forums for some time now. In short, the answer is yes. I believe 3 of them.

Yep, there are three Dwemer ruins planed for Hammerfell. There is one in Stros M'kai (seen extensively in TESA:Redguard), Volenfell near Gilane, and Fang Lair north of Elinhir. There may be a few smaller ones, but these three are the main attraction.

Ah, smaller ruins would be pretty cool too.

So asside from Dwemer ruins, what other types of dungeons can we expect to see in Hammerfell?

Fang Lair...that is such an evil sounding name. I love it!

The Dwemer Ruins are going to be the equivilent of the Aylied ruins in Cyrodil. There will be a single fort ruin at the very edge of Goldmoor, but everywhere else, they will be replaced with "Yoku" (yokudan) ruins, that will basicaly be pre-3rd era cities and forts that have since been destroyed and/or abandoned. One such ruin les just to the east of Taneth.

Of course, there will still be the 'normal' naturaly formed caves, as well as mines (some of which are still safe and in active use).

This sounds like it will be TOTAL fun! That will be fun to explore actual working mines like in Morrowind....I think there were some in Morrowind...I can't quite remember...haven't played since early 2006.

Yup, they had some working mines in Morrowind. Some of them were Kwama egg mines in addition to normal mines.

I'm pretty much done with Cyrodiil. I mean no matter how many quest mods I download, or how many times I revamp the landscape with UL mods, I just want an excuse to expand my character's adventures to other providences for a change. Hammerfell just happens to be my second favorite providence. (With Highrock being the first, but the gap between them is very thin)

Keep up the great work so far. I can't wait to hear more. :goodjob:

Can we expect something like the Silgrad Tower transition. What they have planned for it might seem possible for your team.

If you're not sure what I'm talking about here is the thread from their forums.

As I understand it, their transition is a cave (or it was last time I checked). We have two border forts and a smugglers cave that you can pass through to get to the new worldspace - screenshots can be seen http://hammerfell.daryam.com/MediaBorder.html. The LOD for Cyrodiil can also be seen from Hammerfell, so it feels pretty seamless.

Awesome and to all the people asking about entering hammerfell as far as I know it is going to be kinda like entering a city except for the loading screen it will be seamless so no magic portals. :)

LOD for highrock is in as well, as is the LOD for Skyrim (and Stirk, for that matter). The 3rd screenshot on http://hammerfell.daryam.com/Media.html shows the Bjoulsae river - the entire right half of the shot is highrock. The heightmap is complete and explorable (as seen by the screenshots above), theres just no detail on half of it.

How large is Hammerfell compared to Cyrodiil?

Doh, totally missed that. Hammerfell is roughly the same size as Cyrodiil, though landmarks are much more spaces out (so you won't run into a cave/ruin/camp every 10 ft)
