Those art pictures are so lovely I am itching picking up my pen again :celebrate: But I think my guitars get first serving...

Cheers!

Hammerfell is essentially ready for release. Only problem is with the border crossings. They are contained in a esp file and modify both the Tamriel and the Hammerfell worldspaces. The errors are as follows:

When entering Tamriel from Hammerfell: works.
When starting in Tamriel: quad at 0 height, "can't go this way turn back" message. Or crash to desktop (less often).
When entering Tamriel from a Tamriel-based worldspace (eg. the Imperial City) or an interior: crash to desktop. Or "can't go this way turn back" message and sent back to previous worldspace.
If I enter from Hammerfell, save in Tamriel, and load the save: works.

I've done just about everything I can think of, and its not going away. Help?

Disabling borders won't get rid of the other errors :(

I had Catharsis test this, and he reported none of my problems. His version was missing all the land in the Hammerfell worldspace however.

The only time I remember seeing this problem was when I tried out the MERP mod not too long ago. The problem came about (I believe) because I was using an old file paired with a new one (like an old esp with the new esm, not a double file or anything). I know it's not much help, but I really have no idea what it could be.

Try a "glue esp" that depends on hammerfell side. Border crossings would depend on that, instead of hammerfell? It's not like i know what i'm talking about... :)

You only get "Can't go this way, turn back" when you try to cross the worldspace border, whether by walking, or by teleporting (using a door linked to a point beyond the border, or with a script). So disabling the borders in Oblivion.ini WILL resolve this. It's possible that the crashes are because the game is getting confused when trying to send you back after a failed border-cross attempt, perhaps because it's unloaded too much of the worldspace you just came from and is unable to reload it again before it finishes sending you back.

Disabling borders won't get rid of the other errors :(

If the land is missing in your new worldspace, then you haven't yet used TES4Gecko to inject the worldspace into Oblivion.esm. Until you get around to using the "Move Worldspace" feature from TES4Gecko, Catharsis should place your ESM immediately after Oblivion.esm in his load order. This will restore the missing land. A bug in the game means that any mod-added new worldspaces must have a Form ID in-game of either 00###### or 01######, otherwise the land gets wiped out.

It gives me these errors all over Tamriel though, not only around the border regions (for instance, I get it right outside Anvil and when trying to exit the IC). The only similar problem I've encountered is when two mods modify the border settings of Tamriel (as was Stirk's case). None of my doors are linked beyond Tamriel's border.

I'll check it with borders off anyways, but hopefully thats not the cause. Telling people to disable theirs leads to far too much "it doesn't work omg dislike"

I'll also move the worldspace with Gecko and have him test it again.

The only time I remember seeing this problem was when I tried out the MERP mod not too long ago. This could also be at fault, I'll check it out.

Hopefully one or all of these things will finally get it working. The sheer amount and variance of errors just has me completely confused.

Thanks for the help so far :)

[edit]
Attempt 1: moving hammerfell to the master index
Result: Hammerfell has no land.

Hey LN! The only time I've ever had a case of the Land itself disapearing in hammerfell (oddly enough trees, buildings, rocks, etc remained), was when i was still running 'Kvatch Rebuilt' (and its .esm). Not entirely sure why but un-checking Kvatch Rebuilt in data files solved the problem entirely.

I expect you've already checked for simple .esm clashes like this but its the only suggestion I've got...

PS: The Blacksmith is almost done (oh noes! spoiler of DOOOOOOM!)

Good news: got rid of the crashes and other game breaking errors. They appear to have been caused by a stray edit of Tamriel within Hammerfell.esm
Bad news: it appears I was too thorough in my cleaning of the borders esp. A lot of vital data (including whole cells and all the doors) is now missing. At least I know how to fix this, heh :P

So yea, huzzah for some sort of weird backward progress :)

Well, unless something spectacularly messes up (again...) I hope to have it uploaded later today :) For now everything seems to be working, just have to do a couple of small fixes and then test it again.

Yes, it is :)

For you suicidal brave eager folks, the file can be downloaded http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34484. I will hold off on making a [Relz] thread until I know that everything works.

So be sure to tell me if your computer explodes.

Hopefully not out of line to note that Hammerfell.esm needs to be passed through TES4Edit - not much to clean up but there's one dirty edit to the Abandoned Mine cell which is going to cause untold grief to anyone trying to visit that dungeon.

Er... also one in Aengvir's House at Harlun's Watch. The CS and it's silly water height junk.

Definitely not out of line. Hammerfell is a huge conglomeration of half a hundred plugins amassed over several years, I'm not surprised something was missed.

Sooo.... no computer explosions so far?

[edit] both conflicts fixed.
