[RELz/WIPz] Hammerfell

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 4:29 am

Thanks, I'll try Arthmoor's solution when I get home; I'll just create an esp dropping some calipers into Hammerfell or something. Then I'll report back as to whether it works for me. If not, I'll post my load order.

I was actually making some a while back but I didn't include them in this release. More are always welcome, though we'd have to make sure that they match stylistically.

Would be glad to help, could i take a look at 1 or 2 so i can see what to do? Thx :)

I'm sorry to report that creating and loading an esp that modifies the Hammerfell worldspace did not work for me (could see the land in the cs just fine though). There was still no land at all, just those rocks. And what great rocks! The models for those barrows are absolutely gorgeous!

I just was pasting in my load order in this post when I had an idea: I remember hearing about the SIlgrad Tower people encountering a bug where the ESM had to load second, right after the oblivion esm, for the land to appear. I moved the two esms right to the top and took a peek and voila! IT WORKED! :tops:

Why this happens I couldn't say though. My understanding was the ST people eventually found a way to fix it.

Okay now to go play the game!

Edit: OK Lady Neravar, looking back at your post now, I understand what you meant. At the time I read it as just making sure TR_OoT_Main loaded before Hammerfell.

Hmm.. judging by the comments here, I suppose I'm the only one who goes to Hammerfell and sees almost no land. Lots of rocks and trees, and a few buildings (and the models look GREAT btw), but all floating. Maybe my download was corrupt? I have both the ESMs and the ESP loaded.

Ran into the same. I spent quite a bit of time trying to get it into shape on my end, and after dealing with some leftover issues in the file, I managed to get the landscape to show up everywhere, with only one cell of objects not showing up for some reason. Even that one cell had several bits that were visible but was missing major stuff like parts of Rihad's city walls. The entire rest of the mod seems intact at this point. So those files are what I sent back to Lady Nerevar.

I can't see anything in the file itself that would explain it. Makes no sense. But it happens nonetheless.

Arthmoor was actually having a similar problem. He said that making an esp that modifies Hammerfell somehow and loading it fixed the problem somewhat. Its worth a try.

That method would have required an ESP that edited every cell in the ESM. Not practical for obvious reasons. With the remaining glitches I was able to get the missing objects to show up with a separate ESP that edits those. Moved them all down one Z unit and they showed up in game.

Isn't there a way to remove this load order requirement? (If anyone can tell me how, I can also do the same to Gates To Aesgaard, since that's got the same thing...) If not, the load order in BOSS will need to change, since it loads the esms after a couple of other worldspace-adding ones.

The having to load it 2nd thing is fixed via TES4Gecko's Move Worldspace. I thought I had ran the process already, but I suppose that must have been an earlier version (I went through about 6 iterations before it stopped crashing or horribly disfiguring my game). I'll make sure its done in the next version.

Arthmoor: what cell were you having problems with? There are a couple near Rihad that always have problems of some sort. They are so persistent and so weird that I'm starting to think its an engine issue.

When you go through the border crossing at Fort Brena. As soon as the game loads on the other side, stuff is missing.

http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/8886/screenshot644z.jpg

This is after having gone through to fix the stuff I told you about already, with TR_OoT_Main.esm in the 01 slot and Hammerfell.esm in the 02 slot.

Moving those out to any other slot results in all of the landscape vanishing in the entire worldspace, with only the LOD still showing.

Looks great! The only issues I see is that the screenshot is not erased behind the brown border and that the space for the text needs to be blurry towards the top. I'll upload one of mine later today.

I also hope to upload an updated version of the mod as well.

Remember, if you've enjoyed Hammerfell please endorse it :)

At the rate I play OBLIVION, I may not even discover Hammerfell until after the next upgrade! I do play it often, but I am so stuck on the thieves guild quests right now....that it is going to take awhile...not to mention I recently added a mod that continues TG for a while...

Care to share the continued TG mod? I've been looking for something like that.

I just installed this mod now and have placed "HammerfellBorders.esp" just before "MergedMaps.esp"
and since I'm using OOO I need maybe to tweak borders in Oblivion.ini

Fantastic and awesome work!!!
I entered Hammerfell using Fort Brena and got inside Rihad town.
The buildings and vales look awesome. There are some unfinnished building and doors that lack collision.

BTW it's the default setting "bBorderRegionsEnabled=0" that worked for me not the opposite.

I will be endorsing this mod soon at tesnexus.

Thanks again for all the great work you have done in this project all these years.

I thought the default was "bBorderRegionsEnabled=1" with vanilla Oblivion. 0 implies that there are no borders, and no restriction on traveling outside the invisible wall...

1 is indeed the default.

I'm happy to announce that http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/603-hammerfell-the-eastern-grasslands-101/! The changes are mostly behind the scenes - the files have been throughly cleaned by Arthmoor and should now have fewer potential issues and conflicts. If you're having problems with your current install, I recommend downloading the newer version. I've also converted the read me into HTML for better readability and added information on trouble shooting.

Changes in 1.01 (internal .14):
ESM:
Cleaned dirty edits in Tamriel.
Removed the 6 NULL delete records.
Removed a corrupted persistent worldspace child record.
Fixed the broken region records that were pointing to rocks and other crazy stuff.
Fixed the stuff with the doors and ownership records.
Fixed that spot of purple landscape.
Fixed the AI packs to point to valid targets instead of landscape records. How that ever happened is beyond me.
Fixed the landscape LOD not showing up, and renamed the mesh files to match the new formID.

ESP
Cleaned a number of dirty edits, ran the undelete+disable function.
Made sure the worldspace change is reflected as was done in the master.
Removed unnecessary border region edit

I know these are not vanilla default options but my default setting when using OOO/FCOM with others mods like Stirk/Elsweyr/Dungeon Ivellons and Merged Maps.

The link:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes4Mod:FCOM
suggest another mod:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12246
(Cyrodiil borders regions) but it's somehow obsolete now.

Finally got round to giving this a play, and I was blown away

The rolling grasslands, the coastal towns, the waterfalls and cliffs, the architecture... such a great place. Really feels like Hammerfell should, an adventurers paradise. Was a little desolate, but it's an alpha so it's to be expected

Overall, phenomenal work

wow, 1.01 was quick.

I cannot wait to see this mod complete. Especially the famous Dragontail Mountains. Will we see at last an Orc city?

The only Orc city is Orsinium, located firmly within Highrock. You might see an orc camp, but its still a while off.

According to lore, there's the city of Dragontail there, and is inhabited mostly by Orcs. I guess there would be more than only a camp...
