Hand to Hand Removed... He-Man died today....

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 5:30 am

For anyone thinking they completely removed punching entirely: There are Nords. There are taverns. There are drunken Nords in taverns. We will be able to punch. :foodndrink:

[Bethesda Loyalist] We have to keep in mind they did not remove hand to hand for the hell of it. Just like anything else, they probably felt it wouldn't be on par with the other fighting styles for the time they hand to spend on it, so they made the choice of axing it and spending that dev time on something more important to them.

Unless somethings changed its Health, Magicka, and Stamina, of which their only mentioned Dynamics are, the player raises their value every level up (they pick one) it is not stated or implied with availible information that Raising HMS has secondary effects since thats what Attributes did, and according to Todd and Company, they cut out the middleman.

Then replace what I said with stamina.

I was looking forward to create a monk character which uses HtH. Guess that idea is scrapped now then.
Don't understand why they'd remove it. I know that if a skill is useless then something needs to be done.
But it just seems like they went the easy way out and just removed it instead of finding ways to make it a skill worthwhile.

Oh... Skyrim just keeps getting worse and worse!
Maybe I should just stick with Modded Oblivion...

hand to hand may not have its own skill now but nether dose the sword or the blunt they where rolled up into two skills 2 hand and 1 hand so i am expecting hand to hand to be in the two hand skill in the form of a perk tree

It's unfortunate, but predictable. I think the nature of the Dual Wielding system might make it hard to implement.

It's possible only the skill was removed, but I rather doubt it.

So what, then, is the final skillset for Warriors?

1 Handed
2 Handed
Smithing
Blocking
Heavy Armor (This one hasn't even been confirmed yet)

I think those skills can be resumed into 1 skill named hand related [censored] , i wonder why they are wasting their hard earned $ to put stuff none is using

Most of my builds were centered around daggers and/or unarmed for the actual physical fighting. While there were problems unarmed was most definitely not useless.

Oh wayt.... you must mean unleash your health bar on them...

whats so bad about that?

punch damage relies on your strength

your strength relies on your health...

You are right. Separate skills are redundant. They should just fold all combat skills into the health bar and call it perfection. Then they can worry about more important things like bringing back levitation.

I'm kinda glad that Hand To hand is gone. I never used it and it was one of my 3 skills that I picked as a filler major.

There is no hand to hand, but unequipping 1 hand is the 1 handed skill, and unequipped both arms uses the 2 handed skill. It's no big deal, guys.

It seems that Bethesda did not think it was realistic to beat up a dragon with your fists.

If all the weapon skills have been folded into 1-handed and 2-handed, it makes sense that a specific unarmed skill would go as well. It's probably just governed by the 1 or 2-handed skill now. I'm betting that you can still punch people in the face if you've got nothing equipped.

Until a dev says punching people is one handed or two handed (both of which makes no sense) anything else is conjecture... And as far as being stated in the mag H2H is no longer a skill, not replaced, not refined, not tripled down, no it's out, sire you can punch but it would be as useless as jumping and running during combat was in fo3

Ala you could not change them or improve them directly by the character...

probably because when we learned they removed something, its in a list of 12-18 or so added things.

Maybe he's high off of all that added stuff and not being a stereotypical bitter forum fan?

I'm hoping that it's handled by stamina, the higher your stamina the faster you can punch, but at a base strength, and your power attack gets stronger but at a base speed, it would work well like this imo to balance your skill proficiency, without a direct skill.

On top of this diversity could be added by what type of gloves you have on from leather to dedric increasing damage, reduced speed. This way gloves could be enchanted like weapons, and not just armour, and give some serious kick to h2h again with out the need for a skill.

You could further play on this if the list of traits races have is extensive, which I hope it is, that way kjihts could have disarming power-attack, argonians a swipe powattack with chance of paralysis, red guard a knock down, orcs a higher base power lower speed, bosmer higher base speed lower power, high elves a magic buff to defence but a reduced strength and speed, Breton magic buff to attack but a reduced strength and speed, imperial are just average.

I feel a perk or two could make it into one handed as each fist fist is a weapon and can be handled along side a single spell or weapon.
Example:
Swordsman: your extensive use of a single blade has allowed your free hand much opportunity, you now find it easier to land critical blows with a fist when weilding a one handed weapon.
Martial Prowess: you are the weapon, your ability unarmed surpass all but the mightiest warriors and fiercest creatures, you can perform numerous power attacks with greater ease( hold:power up:lunge right:knock left:disarm back:paralyse ).

I think it would be sad to ignore h2h completely and just have base punching, I feel with duel wield sr will be the first game I've played where it will feel viable in combat, I agree it may not need a whole skill, even tho magical punches and ninja skills would gave been fun perks, but if defiantly deserves some love and a little bit of intertwining into the game, this is why I feel duel wield punching and holding a weapon is important as well as modifiers for your gloves, neither of which I see as great mile stones. If you have the animations for duel fist punching just loose one arm...even drop the fist drown a little so your dooks don't interfere with your hacking. Even consider racial ability lists that are far more extensive and just limit the player to picking 3 or some thing, even if that's like the traits from fallout idc it allows more freedom if choice customisation and replay value.

I'm sad to see it go; my first character in Oblivion was a monk (although I was a bit disappointed with Oblivion's hand-to-hand. It felt like it lost some flavor from Morrowind.), and I had one in Morrowind that became one of my favorite characters to play. I had some ridiculous amount of fortify hand-to-hand on him, and he could knock someone out for a long time with a sneak-punch. Anyway, I digress. I am a bit apprehensive that they've taken it out for good, but logically, since they also removed blunt and blade I assume they will merge it with the new one hand skill.

Yeah, so if I want to be a boxer I don't have to play a boxer. Just play anything with 2 hands and then select the perk. Yay! It's even less "become what you do" than the last games were.

So instead of becoming a blade master you are a master of one hand.

haha

yah sure you can punch a dragon in the face

BUT it will end badly for you

and NO you can't kill a dragon in H2H combat because its like HAND TO GIANT SHARP CLAW OF DEATH

H2H depends on weight class.... of course some really good masters can take down much heavier fighters than them, BUT I'm sure as hell if they go fighting an elephant or a blue whale they are going to lose BADLY and die horribly.

AND no running and jumping is not a "skill" its something u get better at with practice, not sure about you but I plan on walking running and jumping a lot in skyrim no matter what "class" I become, and please give me some running PERKS give me a list of abilities and interesting stuff you can do game-play wise with BASIC FRIGGING MOVEMENT

you can't YOU CAN"T

haha you lose Beth win the end

H2H will be a nice default unarmed attack you can use in fist fights, running and jumping are now available to all people to use, GO FIGURE ..... and you will NEVER EVER see them as lame useless skills anymore

As long as I can still punch I'm fine. It would feel so weird to not be able to punch when clicking when you have nothing equipped.
I don't care about the skill. I mean, who base their character on H2H? Not many I assume.

Yeah, how could they remove punching? It's such a basic action.
