Hand to Hand Removed... He-Man died today....

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 8:54 am

It doesn't make sense to me that if you are unequipped, you won't be able to use your attack button, that definitely seems like they are moving backwards if they do that.. its just lazy on bethesda's part if you ask me. I've convinced myself that punching WILL be in skyrim... i suppose a fist could act as a one-handed weapon.

because

who makes a character that runs?

literally everyone, which answers your question of why they are out - as everyone would level too fast w/ the new system.

Oh and : Sprint.

I don't care how good you are at hand to hand combat, you are NOT going to be able to beat someone wearing armour wielding a shield and sword. The removal of h2h seems like a choice made for realism if you ask me, so I dont mind at all. And I'm saying this as someone who used it a lot in Oblivion, mostly because I thought it was funny that I could beat up daedroths and such with my bare hands

During the Feudal Era of Japan, Samurais would use martial arts against each other on the battlefield, mainly grapples and throws. They'd flip their rival over their hip, and the force of their heavily armored body slamming into the ground would stun them at least (Quite often fracturing and breaking bones as well), and the standing samurai would slip his blade into the fallen samurai's mask, killing him.

Just because H2H is removed doesn't mean it hasn't been folded into 2 handed and 1 handed combat.

Well it's out because...

...

it always svcked?
Yeah, I've got nothing, other than they couldn't make it really appropriate and unique so it's out.

Now time to look for people asking what are they going to remove next...

Oh, and I'm pretty sure you can still punch people, only you can't make it stronger...

Actually, it was OP in Daggerfall. Especially if you maxed it out and then became a werefurry.

I'm thinking it will be folded into 1-handed combat. You are using one hand in combat. Or you are dual-wielding two single hands in combat. Having it be static would be terrible.

Khajiit should get claws instead of unarmed strikes.

And Unarmed =/= Unarmored. I think it's implied that the Khajiit of Elsweyr fight hand-to-hand in medium armor.

DOES NOT COMPUTE

i bet its just a default attack when u want to fight and not kill anyone, like in bar fights and stuff.

hand to hand may be gone but it will probably still exist through 2 hand perks, but really did anyone ever use that, the only game that I used it in was NV

There is no theif skill and by words of Todds, they are out, not merged, not under the hood, they are out plain and simple

because

who makes a character that runs? i swear the reasoning for these actions borders on...something not pleasant.

haha ok check this out:

Trainer: So what are your skills?

You: I'm good with a sword and I can run and jump.

Trainer: I'm sorry did you say run and jump??!!

You: Yes and I can walk too its a skill isn't it.

Trainer: GUARDS.... remove this idiot from my presence.

For all of you that loved h2h....don't worry....I am sure it is only being replaced with a more naturally evolved skill like Pimp Slap.

Or when you are unarmed you can just screech everything to death with a dragon toot.

If you are a master of hand-to-hand, you can kill a dragon by punching it. What part of killing a dragon by hitting it in the face with the force of a freight train is so hard to understand?

Haven't you heard of Theldurin the Lost, from World of Warcraft? He punched Deathwing in the face. The dragon hasn't been around since.

And not even a Dragon can stand up to the force of a mighty FALCON! PUNCH!!!

Running and jumping are very valuable skills. Rincewind the Wizzard can attest to the use of the ability to run. Survival chances increase when you can outrun a foe. The ability to close the distance between you and a mage before he can get a spell off is very critical. The ability to flank someone on your own by vaulting over them is also extremely useful. As is being able to vault clear from being surrounded. And the ability to run and fight without tiring is extremely useful. Someone who is skilled at running, jumping, and using a sword is extremely powerful. Ever heard of "Hit-and-Run tactics" or "Kiting"? Skirmishers, harriers, and acrobats are extremely potent fighters because of their mobility. Mobility is the most important ability in combat.

Of course, Athletics and Acrobatics are probably better represented as perks (Or auxiliary skills like cooking) than "Class Skills", as long as the perks are suitably powerful in relation to other perks of their level, and aren't too "taxy"

Yes, a master of H2H combat should be able punch/kick a dragon in the face to kill it, just as s master of one-handed blunt weapons should be able to finish the dragon.

D&D monks have been able to fight dragons since the class' conception as soon as they reach high ability. There should be no difference here. In fact, I remember reading about monks being a dragons worst nightmare, as they can dodge their attacks easily and cannot be disarmed or fought like a normal fighter as well as the use of their more mystical psionic monk disciplines.

Damn pun will ruin the skill. It's about using the end of one limb to hurt people. Sometimes you can use the other as well, but then you're dual-wielding. Yes, you can dual-wield your fists.

I used to use H2H for killing stuff like wolves and rats while I was exploring, so I wouldn't waste the enchantment on my bow or blade. Oh well I just hope they do a better job at this one then Oblivion and I will be happy.

I always hated hand to hand builds in RPGs, including D&D. Its so ridiculous...who the hell is gonna take on a hoard of axe wielding, heavy armor wearing demons with his fists? Fantasy is NOT interchangeable with ilogical.
