Is Hand-to-Hand viable?

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 4:34 am

I've just started to play as a Khajit with hand-to-hand as my main weapon skill, in FCOM. Is it actually viable compared to swords/daggers/blunt/bow? What can I do to make my fists do my damage or block more damage? It seems quite weak.

I have that along with blade to help me out, but I do also wonder if H2H is worth it.

I don't know about FCOM, but I have done a very successful h2h character before. High Endurance and strength wins the day. At level 50, you will start to directly damage their fatigue. Nothing more satisfying than the look on an enemy's face when making them fall down after hitting them. There are enchanted gauntlets in the game which will fortify your h2h, or you could enchant your own. I'd have a backup skill though. Getting swarmed by four marauders all armed with claymores and hammers, doesn't make a happy H2Her. Perhaps Illusion, or Blade.

The best thing about it as that at 100 I believe (and someone should correct me if I'm wrong) that not only can you paralyze with a hit but also you ignore the targets defense. So I believe it can be quite potent, but at the same time there are some heavy drawbacks to it in my opinion. For one you can't use poisons, also blocking isn't as efficient without a shield or even a two handed weapon.

You still don't do a whole lot of damage but I believe that you have a higher chance of paralysis with hand to hand then anything else (again, correct me if I'm wrong here).

So, yeah, it is quite possible.

Honestly though without the Bands of Kwan Lao AND Ring of the Iron Fist, I think it would be quite difficult to built up to.

I think hand to hand is something that you can use as sort of a secondary option for a weapon, but as a major skill? I don't know, I've never personally tried it.

I dunno what FCOM is but H2H could be viable as long as you have some kind of magic to support it. With Illusion you could just cast paralyze and whale away.

H2H rocks!

IMO, the damage is perfect to keep things challenging. Gets too easy with weapons. Especially magic ones. You'll need some help against ghosties though. I haven't played H2H in a while, but at least at early levels, can't hurt ghosts.

Yes it is very viable especially when used in conjunction with Block, because at higher block skills your Hand to Hand can damage ghosts and block weapons.
