2 handed weapon + spellcasting

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 11:55 am

Anyone tried this? Heavy armor + magic from afar + 2h sword once they get close.

Oh and keep in mind I hate summoning buddies, raising undead, companions, or anything that doesn't allow me to be the one to slaughter my foes myself.

That's me.
except the Heavy armor, I either wear robes or Clothing.
And I Hate Conjuration too so I don't really use it.

My build of Two-handed swords and Frost Destruction was planned before Skyrim even came out

I'm assuming you're using Alteration for armor then?

There's a sword called the Ebony Blade that is two-handed but works off of 1-handed perks that absorbs a ton of health.

Do you run into problems transitioning from one to the other? Such as taking hits from baddies whilst in transition?

Sadly no, I cannot get myself to use Mage armor either, I rely more on my ability to Avoid things.
I have no problems transitioning between the two from Hot keying them on my D-Pad, only sometimes the Sword takes a little too long to pull out.
I know of Ebony blade and was mad when i found out it was based on 1-Handed damage, and that's like the only Unique Two-Handed Sword.

On the Elder Scrolls Wikia it breaks down what perks from which of the two trees effect each. Like the damage is from 1-hand, but the "cut off heads" is from 2-hand.

So I'd have the Ebony Blade, plus probably a 1-hand Blades sword with sixy enchantments on it.

I'd go dual casting spells for range, 1-hand/spells for multiple targets or when I'm sticking & moving, and Ebony Blade any time my health gets low, or I'm fighting something like a Dragon Priest/Dragon thats landed/or any powerful spellcaster.

Meh, the only reason I wanted Ebony blade was because there was no Akavir-Dai Katanas like the one I used in Oblivion, but two things completely went against my character.
You had to be Evil to make it Stronger, and it was based on One-handed damage :|
Remember that the Katana gets stronger if you kill innocent people.

So my re-make of my Main character (the Khajiit with the Two-Handed & Frost Destruction Build) won't even touch the sword or it's quest o.o

I use Daedric Armor + Daedric Claymore + Magic. So yes, that is me but I do have followers and I do use conjuration.

I have a deficiency for Role-playing evil things o.o
I made a character to join the Dark Brotherhood, all that did was make me mad at the guild and discover
Spoiler
There's a quest to Destroy them.
That made me happy :D

Well.. You can do the quest and get the sword still. Worst thing you gotta do is pickpocket a key. Don't have to 'feed' the sword. Personally, you shouldn't really bother feeding it. That sword has infinity charges of absorb health so it is quite nice to have.

Yeah but the absorb health score goes up the more you betray.

I tend to make neutral characters, but I might make a paladin to balance out this evil character. :)

Like I said, I have a deficiency for being Evil o.o
Plus the sword svcks if you don't feed it and your not trained in One-handed.
the guy i'm Role-playing is good anyway, i'd rather not pick-pocket people.
I already restrain myself from killing anything that's not trying to kill me, so I don't hunt :|

Paladins will be hard to have since Chrysamere isn't in Skyrim. I am hoping to see a TRUE Chrysamere mod or DLC here soon.

Your not a true Paladin if you do just do quests for it, I'm pretty sure 97% of the people who did Knights of the Nine quests only did them for the benefit of Good/New equipment o.o
What I do is don't touch the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood
Spoiler
Or you could Destroy the Dark Brotherhood :)
,
Either don't Daedric quests unless you go against them such as not repairing Mehrunes Razor or Destroying the Skull of Corruption,
and Do not kill anything that's not trying to kill you.
Other than that it's just the Build :|

I can't be a true paladin cause I prefer to use 2h weapons and Chrysamere isn't in Skyrim. As for TG and DBH, take them down if you are a paladin. As for Daedric Quests, some are okay to do for Paladins like Meridia and Azura. They are the good Daedric Princes.

I was thinking that for my good character to maybe use the Longhammer with a fiery soul trap plus a high fire damage on a big bad orc.

Kind of like a different take on a paladin build. Maybe team the orc with mercurio (though I normally can't stand companions)

Paladins can still use Two-handed Weapons, any type of weapon in fact.
and Daedric Princes are still Daedric Princes, Meridia and Azura aren't good, they're just not Deliberately evil o.o
Meridia is actually associated with the Aurorans and Umaril who were the main bad guy in the Knights of the Nine quest.
Azura is kind of good but still, not someone a Paladin would overly choose to pilgrimage to over the Divines :|

I don't think Meridia would side with Umaril and the Aurorans. And why does Daedric Princes HAVE to be evil? Most of them are neutral while some are evil and some are good. I think you looking at it incorrectly.

I have two mages, one pure destro, one conjuration. The destro one is in light armor/enchanted, the other in heavy armor/enchanted.

They both have a 2H weapon as backup, just in case the enemy gets close. If there still is a problem, I can stop the game and go to Potions and drink health pots, then continue the fight till I win.

I don't put any perks or skill points in the tree since it's really not an issue using it. And using it will level it up.

Good luck.

And what a reward you get... :D

As for the OP, I've tried the two-handed/destruction build, but wasn't that satisfied. I sill think that the inability to simultaneously use melee and magic was a big fault in Morrowind and previous games, so when I mix magic and combat I use one-handed weapons. I also find this forces me to be more diverse, since when I use dual-destruction I tend to ignore other schools because I'm so busy nuking the enemy. Without dual-destruction, I pay more attention to other schools (alteration and conjuration for me, sorry OP :P). Of course, we're talking about builds, and ultimately it comes down to taste.

"Her realm is known as the Colored Rooms and is inhabited by the Aurorans, who follow Umaril the Unfeathered and play a major role in the Knights of the Nine quest line.Mankar Camaron attributes her (incorrectly) to Coldharbour, the realm of Molag Bal. She was responsible for the destruction of the Aylied city of Abagarlas."

that sounds quite evil to me, And the only neutral one is Azura, every other one makes you do pretty damn evil things unless you consider Hircine to be neutral too. I do not :|

Using this class right now, except light instead of heavy armor. Probably the most enjoyable playthrough I have had.
