Happy 5th Birthday Oblivion!

Post » Fri May 20, 2011 3:02 pm

I'm in Cyrodiil right now in the Moranda ruin...I don't think I could think of words in tribute that would say it better than that. Thank you...and cheers!

From your lush forests, to your open plains, to your snowy mountains, and to your dank swamps, great joy has been brought to me. The Imperial City towers majestically in Romanesque white marble at your center and my home away from home is ever more complete with your presence to bring Tamriel closer to life. How long ago it seems to have been since I first obtained you and got my first look at your brilliant, warm sun shining down upon the sands of the beach near the abandoned pier outside the sewers and the colorful, vibrant landscape upon which you were built. You grow older, yet never duller, and your family grows yet extended with the soon-to-be arrival of your younger sibling. I've spent countless hours traversing across your terrain to get the grandest view I could. Whether it was the rapid waterfalls pouring down into a small body of water, the ocean seen from the Gold Coast near Anvil at sunset, White Gold Tower prominently domininating the landscape around it on a warm, sunny day, a misty, damp morning in the swamps of Blackwood, the view of Cyrodiil from the snowy cliff of Dive Rock, the sorrowful bowels of your dilapidated Elven ruins, the cozy taverns built in the Skyrim style shielding me from the bitter cold and snow outside, the autumn colors of the forest north of Chorrol, or the safehaven of Cloud Ruler Temple, you've kept me captivated for hours and always longing to see more. May I continue to play you for years to come. Happy birthday, my dearest friend! :cake:

Happy birthday Oblivion, you're like Morrowind's autistic little brother - you may get on our nerves some times, but you're family.
Here's to you, kid.

Zero score and Seven years ago, baby oblivion was announced. However, he was a late baby and on Zero score and Five years ago he was born, he was one of the most popular kids on the block. Although alot of people compared him to his older brother Morrowind. They were two different people some never realized that. Later, Oblivion became best friends with a new kid on the Bethesda block Shivering Isle, the kid was abit crazy, was kinda depressed. but boy howdy, he entertained everyone!

Good purchase!!
One of my friends asked me a short while ago if I could recommend a game for him that was 'a bit questy'. I naturally thought of Oblivion and got him the GOTY edition for Xbox 360 for around £13.
He has played it to death now and simply could not believe how much game he has got for his money!!

Happy Birthday :foodndrink:
It'd be nice to publish new sales figures for Oblivion on all platforms, to know how it stands... last time I googled I only found old articles about 3,000,000 pieces shipped, I'd like to know how the figures go on each platform and by regions/countries, is there any statistics out there?

Happy anniversary Oblivion ! I enjoyed playing you from the first moment ! You have been my favourite game since then ! It was enough for me ... I played every second of your gameplay, few times, and I explored every corner of your world. Including mods and expansions ... It is time for me to move on ... Skyrim is waiting for me, and 11/11/11 it will be mine. But I will never forget you Oblivion , and I will still play you for the good old times ! :tes:

Being that today marks the 5th anniversary of Oblivion, I'd expect to at least hear something from Bethesda today. Now whether what we hear will be related to Skyrim, I have no idea.

Happy birthday, Skyr...er....wait, this is the Skyrim forum, right? Wow, I'm confused...
