Bethesda has always been great at creating a real sense of culture among the races and the landmass you play on, so: yes, I am very excited to see what kinds of things Bethesda has in mind for Skyrim.

im expecting longhouses, mead halls, longboats etc

This is where I wanted it to be! The next one should be in Valenwood.

I wanted a game set in Valenwood, especially after reading A Dance In Fire.

I was hoping more for Summerset Isles too. Not that I'm upset, but Skyrim just wouldn't be my first choice. We already had the Bloodmoon expansion, which I think showed a lot of what Skyrim will be like. Don't get me wrong, I loved the bloodmoon expansion, and hope Skyrim is somewhat like Solsthiem.

However, I'd rather of had something new for a change. Not to mention after Oblivion being so "earth-like" and normal, I feel Skyrim will be the same. I think a lot of other choices like Black Marsh, Summerset Isles, Valenwood, etc. would have been a better choice for a more "alien" environment. (Though Black Marsh doesn't really appeal to me, I'm not a swamp person.)

But with any luck, Skyrim should be great, and would have been my close second choice anyway. I just hope it's done right.

So much pessimism!

I'm sure that Skyrim will twice as enthralling as Morrowind and Oblivion combined!

I have to agree with you, people are being too pessimistic lately. Who knows what wonders will Bethesda do?

I just long for the day when black marsh gets its chance to become a reality. Oh the wonderful potential for beautiful, slimy, bizarre and argonian filled perfection.

I was hoping for Valenwood or Elsweyr, but to be perfectly honest, I'm just happy there's another TES game on the way :celebration:

I could definitely go for Valenwood or Elsweyr

Especially for Elsweyr as Khajiit are just plain hilarious

I love old Scandinavian culture. So since the Nords are basically Vikings, I'm pretty happy with the choice in setting for ESV.

I'm more than ecstatic as to any announcement actually. I have no doubt the this will be my next gaming passion for the next four years.

I was hoping for Valenwood or Elsweyr... Or Summerset.

As was I, but to be perfectly honest I saw this coming since Bloodmoon.

Is it wrong this made me want toast?

"Elf Butter?" This is going to be my first mod.

This. I was hoping they would do Elsweyr, but I'm sure Bethesda will make the best of Skyrim.

Ditto.

But in a way I think it's better this way, so they can release Summerset Isles for the next generation of consoles.

I would have like it in Black Marsh. But lets be honest here, I don't think Bethesda has the technology to do advance water shaders and physics. Just look at Oblivion's water. Morrowind with MGE has owned Oblivion's water.

I'm not particularly happy about it

I personally do not like the cliche-axe-wielding-big-dumb-muscular-nord and I have a feeling it's going to be a nordfest

Looks like going on a murderous rampage is going to be easy for me
