I have not heard any mention of a hardcoe mode. I could be wrong, though. I'm guessing you're talking about a no-HUD, one-hit-kill mode.

With all of SD's talk on their grenades being weak and no OHK's, it would seem that a hardcoe mode on Brink would go against their design direction in many ways. Since this is a game focused on advancing through or defending objectives, it wouldn't give either team much chance to do that if they're dying and respawning all the time.

It's ironic that one shot one kill games have hardcoe mode, which usually means that you can die from a pistol shot. No Hud, no minimap or anything like that would be interesting, but Bad Company 2's hardcoe mode was useless because without minimap and 3d spotting, the teamwork itself became unnecessary. I won't cry if Brink misses HC.

If there is a stripped-HUD mode, I'm fine with that. However, it has to be done properly so BRINK still works. After all, it's quite reliant on HUD-elements.

If hardcoe mode would mean enemies had no red glowing radioactive slime all over them, I'd greatly appreciate it, though.

HC mode is lame. It is much more effective to simply offer each option as a toggle for players to decide how they want to play. Instead of simply offering "Normal" and "hardcoe," offer options like:

SERVER SETTINGS:
FF - on/off
Realistic damage - on/off
Change bodytype in-game - on/off
minimap - on/off
friend/foe indicators - on/off
voip - on/off

CLIENT SETTINGS:
health bar display - on/off
Ammo display on/off
drawgun - on/off
head bob - on/off
hitsounds - on/off
objective wheel - on/off

Something like that gives the player a lot more choices to craft the game they want to play.

hardcoe mode in Brink is comparable to cars without wheels in a racing game. In other words ridiculous.
Why?

- Weapons would have to be rebalanced
- They intended to have lower bullet damage in the first place to keep it fast-paced. (Quick kills =/= fast paced, because everyone plays waaaay more carefull/campy)
- Try to complete even the easiest objectives if you're instantly dead.
- They want you to have close personal fights, not fights were you can't even see the enemy before you're dead.
- It's just another way to ask for increased bullet damage.

And a bunch of other points.

I agree, a hardcoe mode would take away from what brink is trying to be

Let them have their "realistic damage." And then after a month or so, when HC mode becomes nothing more than a poor man's TDM, those who want tat can stay.

What is Hard Core mode?

Is it more realistic damage like One-Hit kills or something? Or just a more harder difficulty?

Either way, I play games on Easy or Normal (if there's no Easy/Casual) because I'm looking to relax in games since I'm a easily stressable person in real life. :D

So, yeah, don't care if there's hardcoe mode or not.

No. A hardcoe mode would be about as non-Brink as Brink could possibly get. Why ruin the magic?

probably referring to CoD's hard core mode where you don't have a HUD you lose you ammo tracker and your mini map etc,it's good for people without silencers also all guns do like 3x the dmg so it's sometimes easier.

Not really a fan of hard core. Too much camping and cautious play.

I do not want and I will not be playing hardcoe mode in brink. I dislike being killed in one bullet and not being able to see ammo counters or other UI pieces. Some other games I feel it is a necessity, like BC2, because the guns overall seem underpowered unless you are using a auto-shotty, rpg or grenade launcher.

my view of hardcoe mode is no health regen, which makes the medic's abilities more helpful, removing the hud, full FF, no Friend or Foe indicator, and shorter bleed out time.

this will make the game more frantic and not have any OHK but no health regen to give the game a real incentive for team play.

to me it isn't need to have hardcoe, just a bonus if anything...

Opps, I guess I should of checked if this was a thread before.. My bad.

I wouldn't like the OHK, but less HUD, no health regeneration and FF that sort of stuff.

See, this is a reasonable response. It's one thing to not really care if they include it or not because you're not going to be using it, but I don't get these nerd-ragers who are all "They better not put it in! I don't like it so I don't want it! Blagh!" as if someone would come to their house and put a gun to their head and make them play it if it were an option.
