Hard Core Mode? Yay or Nay?

Whenever I played Oblivion, Morrowind and Daggerfall I always had my character eat periodically even though I wasn't forced to.

Yes please. Only if it's optional, of course. It would be fun to prepare before a journey into the unknown. With nothing but your wits and the supplies that slowly diminish. I love that the weapons and armor wears over time, why not the player's fatigue? Eating and resting would be neat.
Yes, but I'd like to see more conditions that just eating and drinking. And for the love of god, please give it a better name than 'hardcoe Mode'.

Survival mode sounds fitting, no?

Yeay.

Just because it gave some items like food and drinks something else than just waste space in the inventory.

In new vegas the the sistem has it flaws and some times it was anoing. but still i take that any day than the simple mode.

So yes i will love for a hardcoe mode.

I would like to see it. It can't be that hard to put into the game. But I only want it as long as it's not drawing any attention away from other aspects of game development.

hardcoe mode or at least an option like that would be beneficial to those who feel oblivion should have been tougher, without a bucket load of hit points.
Those that think the current difficulty is ok can play normally, while the one's who want a bit more humff to their game/challenge can get what they want. :)
I prefer a challenge.

I would much rather have a few hardcoe options:

-you need to eat
-you need to drink
-you need to sleep
-Gold has weight
-No map-fast-travel

It shouldn't be all or none. Just these five selections would be all we need IMO

Maybe a "you have to stay warm" option too.

I would only do If certain hardcoe aspects could be selected which actually affect the difficulty and does not turn the game into the sims

Things I would like, No healing during battle, Time does not freeze when you open menu, zero locations discovered at start, everything has weight

Boring things I have no interest in - Eating, sleeping, drinking, lack of fast travel

I put maybe because if it is like Fallout NV the HELL NO!. I want it to actually matter and not just be a set or random chores I have to keep doing every 15 minutes. Like the cold having an effect if you do not wear protective clothing and all items having weight......I like that and can accept that but to force you to eat and drink and other chore related things do not make the game any more hardcoe or realistic.........it just makes it so that you have to press an extra button once a day. It also makes the game world spam too much health and other items for people who are not playing hardcoe mode.

That was the case with NV. There was just soooooo much food, drink, water and health everywhere it was ridiculous. Even turning on hardcoe mode did not change any of this and when I played it, it did not really add anything to the game but an extra chore I had to keep checking every so often.

I am all for it but as long as it is done right and does not turn out to be something you have to do once or twice a day.

... I already drank water and ate food all the time on fallout 3 for health so I did not use stimpacks.

But wasted a lot of money on rad-x, radaway and doctor visits.

I'd take the stims over radiation any day.

hardcoe mode helps eliminate ready cash. But in a world where food and water can be found in abundance the constant intrusion of the sicknesses from hunger and thirst would be more annoying than in an environment where finding these things is less likely. (Yes I know how abundant food and water are in FO;NV.)

TES already has some kind of HC mode...the thing that isn't there is the need to eat (which we don't need, since food is found everywhere).

I'd say I'd like a collection of difficulty options that can be chosen individually of each other, rather than a 'hard core' package that requires you to take all of them or none. Some difficulty features make the game for exciting, others just make it more tedious.

I'd like an optional one, but I think this is the sort of thing which will be left to the modders.

Personally, I'm not remotely interested in something like that. (Didn't use FO:NV's, never gotten Primary Needs or FWE, etc, etc, etc.)

But as long as it's 1) optional, and 2) doesn't take development resources away from programming the real game, go right ahead.

hardcoe mode like Fallout, or hardcoe mode like Crank 2? I would like it because I could kill Alduin like a beast, reanimate him and then kill him again like a boss.

Am I the only one who thinks that managing menus and it's inventories wasn't hardcoe, just some obstacles the player had to overcome for... nothing?!

Why? The carriage system is completely different. If you pay for it, and it only goes on certain routes, then it should stay. I see no sense in that statement. But obviously everyone has a different opinion on what a hardcoe mode should be. No way everyone's gonna be happy.
The only difference is that it has limited destination and routes, like a bus. Fast travel is walking, so there aren't any limitations beyond the need to visit a place first. It makes no sense to limit fast travel just because some people can't wrap their heads around the fact that it's just walking (and/or riding in Oblivion) to your destination.

If I am honest, I found hardcoe mode in FO:NV to be more bothersome then anything... it's just a nuisance rather then an experience. It's just gone to that point of slightly too micromanagement like, having to constantly watch your hunger/thirst/tiredness and then your character still gets ill every time you fast travel... if people want it, then I am not against it as an optional mode. However I don't think it's worth detraction from working on better things if it will require a lot of work to implement and I certainly wouldn't want achievements/rewards based on it like FO:NV since that's pretty much going to make people play the mode who don't want to play it...

If it's a nuisance or not really depends on your interpretation of the system though. I know I'm one of a minority because not many people liked the hardcoe mode on NV but I personally liked it a lot. Anyone ever seen that picture of the Pip-Boy that said "Carry three guns and 1000 rounds for each" or something like that? I always thought that was kind of stupid. As well as taking a nap would heal you and fix up your crippled limbs. hardcoe mode is really only a nuisance if you get into the mindset that all your meters have to be at zero at all times. The way I played (Still play, In fact am off the forums to go play some soon) hardcoe mode is; ;if I cripple a limb and don't have a doctors bag..man up and fight with a broken leg until I can get to town. or if I'm dehydrated without any water on me "Dehydrated? Eh..only minor dehydration. I'll drink from a toilet if I stumble across it". Get hungry? deal with it until you get a chance to kill something and cook its meat at Goodsprings Source. Besides on FO3 I constantly found myself wondering what the point of all the ingame food was since I couldn't cook with it and eating it did nothing except for a few minor, short term buffs that drugs could easily accomplish, but much stronger..

Maybe that was a bit wordy but my point is proven. ;D hardcoe mode is a nuisance if you're looking for a quick play. If you're looking for a dedicated RPG where what provisions you choose to take on a journey with you may just save your life, and running out of ammo or food is actually a concern it can seriously enhance the experience.

Edit: Granted it should be a choice.

Maybe a "you have to stay warm" option too.

That could be interesting, having to wear heavy leather or something like that, but thinking about it and the weight it would add if you had completely different armor for battle.. meh. Regardless, it would be interesting to see.
