hardcoe annoying?

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 7:40 am

Ok, well I'm a huge fallout fan and I've gotten to level 30 multiple times and hardcoe seems awesome, but I'm worried that it might make the game annoying. What all do you have to do in hardcoe different? You have to eat and sleep and I'm guessing you die faster and its harder to kill things? Is there less ammo? Cuz having to stop every 24 hours to eat and sleep would get very annoying, don't you think?

I don't think it will be annoying. The easy solution for the players that do, is to play the casual mode. I suppose, on the PC, there will be mods that will change the HC mode significantly, but if you are on the consoles, you'll have to svck it up, or play the other mode.

>huge fan of fallout
More like a huge fan of Fallout 3. (go play fallout 2 hehe and then tell me u are a huge fan of fallout)

Anyway. I don't think so, it adds immersion and challenge which is great. If you aren't hardcoe, kid, then don't do it ;)
If you want to know how it will feel, then give STALKER a try.

quick sum up of hardcoe

-hardcoe is separate from difficulty, so you can play everything from Easy hardcoe to Hard hardcoe, difficulty determen how strong enemies are, hardcoe just adds extra "effects"

-you need to eat, drink and sleep, also you don′t restore HP or broken limbs sleeping

-ammo has weight so no ya can′t carry 9000 10mm rounds

-stimpacks heal slowly over time, not instant

-only a doctors bag or a NPC doctors visit can heal broken limbs

I think it will be more frequent than that.
And as Francisthemutant said, if you think it's annoying just play Casual Mode.

I'm definitely going to play hardcoe. I love the challenging aspect of it and if you guys are anything like me, then you'll feel like a loser if you don't play the game on the hardest difficulty. I just hope it doesn't ruin the experience since I'm playing my first play through on hardcoe.

Fallout 1 had a better story, set the tone for the series

Fallout 2 had better features, more stuff to do

Fallout Tactics, though not officially canon did a pretty god job in raising the bar on the graphics and strategic elements. It would be interesting to say the least if FO1 and 2 were remade using this engine.

Although Fallout 3 took a few liberties with the established canon and made a controversial move into 1st Person (Oblivion with guns anyone?), I love it for bringing Fallout back into the mainstream. Canon issues aside, FO3 is one of the best free roaming "sandbox" RPGs out there. I got so much mileage off FO3 and the DLCs, it's ridiculous... :fallout:

As for the OP, I'd have to play the game to see how frequently you need to eat, sleep, drink, etc. to gauge the "annoyance factor", but my guess is, the challenges will be more of an enhancement for most people than an annoyance.

Heh, exactly! :fallout:

I believe that when designing the hardcoe Mode, Obsidian balanced it just right so it wouldn't feel annoying.

Since it's not like you're forced to play hardcoe, I don't see why it'd be annoying?
