hardcoe(+RP) Hunter Build

Post » Mon Sep 23, 2013 3:34 pm

I plan to start a roleplay character tomorrow. I'll set it to hardcoe, and I'll make the character a hunter. I'll get the hunter perk, have a high guns, survival, high perception, high endurance, and trigger discipline.

I need some help deciding what weapons to use, what restrictions to have for the hardcoe RP (and hardcoe difficulty) experience. I think I'll probably use Wolfhorn Ranch as a home, but if anyone has a better idea I could easily be swayed. At this point I think she'll avoid most uncivilized people, only going into towns like goodsprings or novac to sell excess game or resupply. I'd love tips on:

Where to live

What armour to use

What weapons to use

What tag to have

What S.P.E.C.I.A.L to have

What restrictions to use

What perks to get

there are three weapons that have hunting in the name. one is a revolver, another is a rifle, the third is a shotgun. the hunting shootgun with the shotgun perks can be a death claw killer. the hunting revolver is lightweight and benefits from the cowboy perk.

hunters needs stealth so light armor and the silent running perk. that perk seems to only work with light armor. using light armor, best to go with light touch. it will increase chance for critical hits and decrease nasty's chance to critical hit you. need agility of 6 and repair skill of 45.

as to special, strength 6, percception 6. perception more for role playing as it would increase of locating prey. the rest is up to you.

tags: guns, sneak, survival

only wear light armor, only use weapons that you meet the requirements off. don't use explosive as it will ruin the meat. always collect the meat.

Adapt, ultimate rule of survival.

I'll post something more substantial tomorrow after sleep.

Perhaps go with leather armor, or clothing only. Cowboy weapons would also work. Gecko backed reinforced leather might be good for a hunter.

Abstain from chems, use only cooked/crafted food to heal yourself, don't use SS or Nuka Cola either because those dehydrate you, and dehydrating in the desert is bad.

Take the Good Eatin' perk. It's a lifesaver in Dead Money.

I would also suggest a lot of the perception boosting perks, like Walker Instinct and alertness. A good hunter is observant. Also, handloader might be a good one since a good hunter would likely be able to reload his brass. The stealth related perks would be good, silent running, tunnel runner, etc.

Hunting Rifle with scope should be your primary weapon imo
