NO hardcoe, ITS TIME FOR REALISM

Post » Sun Jul 24, 2011 1:01 pm

I personaly hated hardcoe mode in fallout it just seemed so dumb since there were so little beds in the game, and people always say "ohh it adds such a challenge" no it doesn't buy a ton of food and chill in the 38 or the sink forever in retirement. they should add a realism mode where every charecter including u has location damage, so when u fight that bandit just hit him in the head and he is down, but if u get hit or shot in the head and by shot i mean a bow, U die ur thoughtS?

Never understood the appeal of hardcoe mode. I think too much realism takes the fun away.

Only part I really want is an hardcoe damage model.. 3 stabs with a blade the enemy dies or you die pending who got stabbed 3 times or arrow to the head = dead and shot your arm? drop your weapon.. of course purely optional but such couldn't been done via mods in any of the previous games which is why I want it implemented o and for console players to try it out too of course

If the game didn't include the need to drink, eat and sleep, Ill use mods for this, as I do with Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3. It's not a matter of chalenge. It's a matter of immersion.

I don't think realism would be fun, it would just be frustrating imagine trying to run away from guards! It would be impossible!!

Me i like the elements of hardcoe need to eat now and then and sleep and no fast travel no laser guided map markers. But we dont need a hardcoe mode really just some sliders at the beging of the game to let you determine how big if any impact these things will have .One shot to the head could be on a slider as well and all could adjust to there own preferance.I might not want to die if i dont eat in two days someone else might pick and choose is the way to go imo.

I wonder what dragon fights would be like on hardcoe mode.

Umm. He was a level 100 character. How could such experienced character make such a mistake. I think he has been assassinated!

I think that we should shift the talk from pure realism to discussing WHAT elements of realism are fun, and what are not. That would be more "realistic". There isn't a single gamer who wants full realism in any game that they play. I don't care what they say.

I know running around free of survival restrictions is fun, but part of me wants to exist as the character while I play- meaning, if I don't eat, drink (water), sleep- I'll eventually die. Locational damage is a hard one- I am 50/50 on that- but I say "why not" give it a shot. lol, who wouldn't wanna shoot an arrow into both the dragon's eyes and watch it go berserk.

No one forced you to use the hardcoe mode, its 100% optional. Don't like it, dont use it, some of us however enjoy hardcoe modes.

Better damage modeling would be nice. Seeing a bandit running at me with several arrows stuck in his face was a bit lame.

Thing is that varys widely which is why i think customizing sliders for things people want like eating drinking sleeping and toggles for things like fast travel and map markers would make the most sense .What i want will undoubtedly vary from what you do somewhere on those paths .Youre right though why are you gonna play a game if it is just life on a screen.Go buy milk or you cant eat youre cheerios isnt fun well to me anyhow.

How does realism factor into a video game RPG? What's the use of things like HP and leveling if everything to the head is going to mean instant death. And unless there's an auto save that saves every second no one would like an actual realistic game. Well... unless that game was called hospital and you played a doctor trying to save characters who had sustained wounds. You get points for every patient you save. Best of all the game ties into lots of war games and first person shooter.. if your character gets shot you'll be whisked away to the hospital game where hopefully you get a really good player who can heal you and send you back into the other game.

That's not true. A lot of people love "realistic games". Arma for instance. You don't need an auto save that saves every second, you just try to stay alive, and enjoy the challenge and realism. It adds to the immersion and fun.

However, I don't think any kind of "One hit kills" suit a role playing game. I would, however, enjoy it if a shot to the head cause more HP loss. It adds to the RP elements.

Once you play the game through a couple times hardcoe MODE will become appealing. I mean if they add the option it doesn't mean you have to take it but it is there if you want to try it. If HC MODE was in Skyrim it would not be that much different since arrows will probable be weighted any way and then there will be a HUNGRY, HYDRATION, SLEEP that's about it. In FO:NV it was harder since you also had to take care of radiation, limb damage and having one gun wasn't enough...Sorry lost train of thought. :sadvaultboy:

It needs to be an option. Plain and simple. Requirement, no. Option? Absolutely.
