Crysis 1 have better graphic than Crysis 2 even at maximum setting.
And.... Crysis 2 is not so choosy, so any mid-end or high-end graphic card will work.

Go nvidia.
I have an Nvidia evga GTS 450 and it can run anygame i have played yet with maxed graphics 45+ fps.
(including crysis 1 and 2.)
I got it on cyber monday for $110 (USD) so you should be able to get it from under £200.
BE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH SPACE IN YOUR TOWER FOR A GOOD VIDEO CARD.
also make sure you have a power supply that can give out at least 450watts.

Right now, I don't think maxed Crysis 2 can stand up to modded Crysis 1.

And by "modded" I mean a foliage texture pack and free access to the game configuration.

The GTX580 is quite expensive, i could recommend you get 2 GTX 560ti and SLI them for like 40-60% faster performance than a single 580

You don't get 45fps on Crysis at very high. Sorry but you just don't.

sorry dude was just trolling..........everybody has budget and needs. I just dont want you to spread misinformation.......there is no way you can play crysis 1 on 1080 p with highest settings
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gts-450-review-roundup/24

Because ppl will buy cheap gfx card and expect miracles to happen and if they dont happen they blame the engine as unoptimized. Happened with crysis 1 thats why we got graphically inferior crysis 2

Which CPU is that?

MY SLI 460s with 3.6 I7 920 does 50 (yeah, Vsync is weird in this game for me) at very high/custom maxed. As in I took certain options (shaders among others) and actually maxed them. Ok, I do get drops to 30 sometimes but it's a pretty stable 50.

Ignore these idiots. Crysis 2 looks better and is more technically impressive than Crysis 1. No question about it. The End.

I agree.

Not only that, it's not even DX11 yet.

Also, when mods start hitting I'm sure it'll look A LOT better. :)

There won't be any mods, because the support / ability isn't given.

Crysis 1 has better graphics than Crysis 2? No way in hell...Go compare them side by side.

Textures are generations ahead in Crysis 2 (Crysis 1 had good texures on like a narrow strip of road, absolutely anywhere alse you saw blurry as **** CoD 4 quality textures.)

Water in Crysis 2 actually looks like water (it is dirty inside, sea floor actually has a ton of rocks and isn't empty, surface has tons of subdivisons) and not like some heavenly unreal liquid like in Crysis 1. (Don't go by Pier 17 water from the demo...that was ****...the final game has breathtaking water).

Even Low settings in Crysis 2 look fantastic. Gamer/Good in Crysis 2 is far better than High in Crysis 1. And hardcoe is much better than Very High.

Not to mention wait until Crytek unlocks Very High for Crysis 2 (it's there as of now but can't be enabled in game). You'll go to heaven playing this game.
