So, No hardcoe Mode?

Post » Sat Jan 09, 2016 2:49 pm

Are we going to have to wait for it to get modded in?

Ignore the article in the second post, hardcoe doesn't have to mean a food/water/sleep survival mode so their use of hardcoe is okay. However, in the sense of the last game's mode called hardcoe where it adds to survival, no, there is no such mode. Remember, the only "Bethesda game" that had a food/water/sleep survival mode wasn't developed by Bethesda, but rather just published so it's kind of expected that classic Bethy wouldn't bother...as per expectations I have, since not bothering is certainly in their motto.

Well then, we'll have to wait. Thanks for the confirmation, enjoy the game!

10/10 awarded for dumb statement.

The absence of some small mechanics does not constitute the changing of the games genre to "fast travel shoot em up".

I am also very disappointed about this fact - in fact, so much, that I reactivated my account for the post. Now one could say - well, just wait until the survival mode will be modded - and I will (have to). But the modding tool will only be available after November, and so to get a decent game will take quite a while. It is a real shame that Beth felt the need to cancel what Obsidian so famously started - true, that was also only basic, but it was way etter than the current situation.

By the numbers, very few people actually used it, even less completed the game on it. I'd think this was the tell for them not to waste their time

That'll be disappointing. Not a huge surprise as most of the great stuff we got in Fallout: New Vegas were ideas that Obsidian added themselves. You just know that we're going to get that in Mod form as soon as the toolkit's out.

What we'll get would blow away anything Beth would have done themselves anyway. So the people that truly wanted it would have only really been happy with the mods that come out anyway.

Even some of those who use it don't care much for it, like myself.

Tried enough times to get that damn achievement that it now feels weird to play New Vegas without taking it. It stopped being relevant mostly by the time you hit Primm, TBH. Sleep regularly, stick to your favorite gun, and down a pair of grilled gecko steaks and purified water every day or two.

Bethesda never cancelled anything.

They never built 'hardcoe mode' so nothing to cancel.

Very much agree. It is a step back. Personally I will add mods for basic needs, fast travel disabling etc. Hoping a new FWE/PN comes out soon.

Also the dialog is nowhere near FNV in which we even had low intelligence dialog, perk dialog options etc, from what I've seen so far.

The problem with this thread is BGS has never done a hardcoe mode. New Vegas was developed by Obsidian, not BGS, so any assumption that a feature from another developer on a spin-off game would make it into the sequel of Fallout 3 was foolhardy.

I thought someone already said there was a survival mode, which is another word for hardcoe. I thought it was mentioned yesterday by someone who already had the game.

I heard this ridiculous "argument" many times. Bethesda has also never done many other things which are in FO4. If RTS, which was even less popular, was added in FO4, so could this.

Comparing those two things is pretty silly. Even people that used vanilla hardcoe have admitted it wasn't great. They don't need to include everything everyone wants, ya know? They looked at it, said they didn't like the way it was done, and didn't include it. Pretty simple. Could they have? Sure. But they didn't want to

How come? Have you conducted a survey? I for one know that mods having basic needs were more popular than RTS. So...?

Conducted a survey on what? Any time the subject comes up people say that the vanilla one wasn't great. I mean, scroll up... And more popular means nothing you know that right? Beth didn't scour the nexus looking for popular mods to implement. They said they liked the RTS mod (not in so many words) and they used it. In the end they're making the game they wanted to make. They sure as [censored] didn't take popularity into account as RTS only has a little over 3k unique downloads. There's tons of other stuff they could have used if it were about popularity. It's not.
