hardcoe Question?

Post » Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:06 pm

Is hardcoe mode gonna be realistic? What I mean by this is, is a enemy gonna take a normal amount of shots to kill or like over 9000? I wouldn't want it to be too easy but on the other hand if ammo has weight then you're gonna have to carry around an assload of ammo...Discuss.

hardcoe is not about that kind of realism. It's more about the PC becoming hungry, thirsty or sleepy, among other things.

hardcoe isn't a difficulty, it's a setting. You can play on Very Easy and still use hardcoe.

That means it does not influence damage given or received in any way.

You'll still have to remember to be careful. After all, playing on hardcoe means that Stimpacks heals over time, not immediately and if you end up crippled, only a doctor's bag (or visiting a doctor) can do anything about that.

hardcoe mode is going to be fun although it svcks that you probably won't be able to fast travel from one corner of the map to the other corner. I guess Tagging Melee is a staple for hardcoe Mode now

Huh? A developer has said that you CAN fast-travel in hardcoe mode, but you need to be careful as it'll affect your sleep/thirst/hunger meters (so you should have some food and water ready at the very least).

You have to remember, that you will be able to set difficulity to very hard and turn hardcoe mode ON....now that will be challanging.

hardcoe mode as a separate setting, aside from difficulity = brilliant idea on Obsidian' part.

yea but the further you travel the more you need. I suggest for the realistic factor to just walk and plan your days out. I have a hardcoe survival guide if you wana see some tips, some are logical but some are good things to do.

I imagine what they mean by being careful with the meters when using fast travel in hardcoe really just affects players if the meter is nearly out. I'm not walking everywhere all the time (I do wander alot but that's different than when I'm trying to complete quests)

when i first played fallout 3 i fast travel all the time. then i felt like starting a new caracter without fast travel. i found that i discovered more in that one character than all the others that i fast traveled in. so i have never fast traveled sence

I guess it's something liekt his. Still, it means that we shouldn't rely on fast-travel too much as it has the potential to mess up things. In short, we can't "abuse" fast-travel as much as we could in FO3 if we go for hardcoe mode. Well, I mostly only used fast-travel to avoid the metros or for a fast way to the nearest merchant when I was all stocked up on things I wanted to sell, so I guess I still won't use it all that much :D

No more situations like "pack-muling 1473 scavenged guns from killed raiders and selling them in Megaton just with a signle fast travel click" :)
Remember folks, that hardcoe mode is also cool because we won't be able to abuse the game mechanics to easly get rich in this game.
I hope that finnaly "every bottlecap" will count:)

What about fast travelling and having random encounters along the way like in dragon age origins?

If enemies are too hard for you to kill and you think it would be more "Realistic" If they died in two shots you can turn down the difficulty hardcoe mode is seprate from difficulty

Oh, we CAN still do this, sorta. It just won't be very... feasible/practical, unless we have food and water, and preferrably a bed to sleep on at the place in question (which'll take away from what you earned from′the loot).

Still those are additional factors, that will help keeping us away from doing this....in FO3 it was so often exploited...even by me....traveling to the DC ruins...killing mutants and talon mercs...fast traveling to the merchants and earning like 2000 caps a single run.....and there was much killin' to be made in DC.....

I sorta blame the respawning function for that... :(

Well, let's see how this'll work in New Vegas anyway :) .
