Hardened Robot Mob

Post » Sat Jul 10, 2010 9:10 am

While roaming around south of the Animal Husbandry Farm near Searchlight, I ran smack dab into a bunch of really nasty robots - several Gutsys and I'm pretty sure a few Security Bots as well. Sad to say, Veronica bit the dust as did ED-E, while I decided on the better part of valor and ran for my frickin' life. :bolt:
I was wondering if anyone else has run into these things. Also, are they just a loose group wandering around or are they guarding something of interest?

Sidebar: while I'm at it, I was also wondering - is it true there's an unexploded nuke somewhere in New Vegas? If so, I haven't found it yet, though I did find the old nuclear test site. Irritating that I couldn't go past the fences to go loot the other shacks.

Yes, I've run into them, and yes, they are guarding something.

Spoiler
They're guarding a crashed vertibird, with a unique Tesla Cannon laying on the ground beside it!

It's true about the unexploded nuke too, but I think you have to have Wild Wasteland to see it.

They are there protecting the crashed Vertibird also, there is a unique Tesla Cannon.

About the nuke I have not found one.

The robots guard a downed vertibird with a powerfull EW ( special tesla cannon ).
Best way stay at range for the first 3 - 5 and hit them with at least a hunting rifle, the next 4 -5 will require getting closer if you can sneak crit one.
Then keep at range to ignore the plasma bursts, there is a rock near, hide behind that and they'll find it hard to draw LOS to you.
You should then be able to take them out one at a time.

The unexploded nuke requires the wild wasteland trait, it's found at the far north east of the map just beyond a NCR ranger camp, itself just past of bitter springs.

Try this for pure hilarity. Engage the robots then run away. They chase and never seem to go back to the Vertibird. I watched while a parade of Bots wandered the hills looking for me, while I ran to the Vertibird.

Yeah, the game forgets to spawn enemies every once in a while.

:lmao: I can just hear 7 odd Srg Gutsy's roaming the Mojove wasteland looking for that "commie son of a @*&$£" suddenly free of the compulsion to stay in the same place for years.
I just wish reading your post, they had a epilogue story about them roaming still post MQ ending, or even at the Dam they turn up and take on the securitrons.

I ran in to these robots, Veronica and ED-E went unconcious and I had to pull out my Heavy Incinerator and incinerate those svckas. But truly, that was a hard battle, with a reward of the Tesla-Beaton Prototype.
I was already weakened by the 5 Feral Ghoul Reavers, but I healed, thankfully, before the "fire"fight.

First playthrough, I got killed by them, left for several levels, and came back to find them all gone.

Second playthrough, I attacked them head on with Paladin Toaster and Med-X. That character was pretty durable to begin with, though.

Third playthrough, I took them down methodically with a Sniper Rifle with Suppressor.

Make sure you take Arcade with you when you visit the thing they're guarding...

First time I ran into those things I killed them all with the Gobi and AP .308's. sneak crits helped too.

this is where the pulse gun is needed. two shots from that will kill those top of of the line robots. it really doesn't weigh much.

I'm sure the Mex-X proved lethal.

The unexploded nuke is a Wild Wasteland encounter.

It's Sentrybots. Securitrons are the ones from the Strip, Mr. House's robots.

Huh, didn't seem that hard with .308 AP ammo and a silenced sniper rifle. Wouldn't want to take on all of them at once, mind you, but picking off the ones you can see first and then checking out the ones down in the ditch worked pretty well. That AP ammo cracks robots very nicely, as I suppose it should.

I ran into that unsavory group. I saw them in the distance, and told Veronica and Rex to stay back while I went stealth and took care of 'em.

I used my Varmint Rifle (fully modded) and AP rounds. (I know, I know... "Why"? It's my favorire gun.) :teehee:

I encountered them as well, and almost died fighting them with my LMG. I took out some initial Mister Gutsy-s and Sentry Bots and, assuming the threat was neutralised, went further in until I reached the gorge where the Vertibird was, where I was taken by surprise by more robots.

I almost got killed by the plasma fire and used up almost all of my Super Stimpaks but finally managed to kill them with tiny amounts of health left and finally claim their "treasure". :celebration:
