Hardest quest?

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 5:36 pm

The reason i thought Harold's heart was so hard was trying to swim underwater and drowning 9 times out of 10:-P

To be honest, I felt the Broken Bow section of Rivet City was more difficult( or was that...annoying? ;) ) with regards to swimming (and potentially drowning) than the Oasis area. It got easier the second time around, but the first time through I found myself getting turned around more than once and getting hung up on a submerged shelf or something similar. Plus, those darned Mirelurks that were feasting on me while I was swimming did not help matters. ;)

Exactly. Harold's Heart at least has a quest marker to give you an idea. Rivet City...totally on your own, haha.

On my current character, I've done enough to gain admission to Paradise Falls. I've enslaved Arkansas (the old coot had it coming for trying to blow me up, plus I think he did blow up Crow) and Susan Lancaster (I don't take abuse from a prosttute, even if she lives in Tenpenny Tower).

I forsee a bit more of a moral dilemma with enslaving Red and Flak, however.

How did you manage that? He starts shooting at you from half a mile away. How do you get close enough to him to mezz him? We are talking about the guy on the second floor of the ruined building in, I think, Minefield, aren't we?

:whisper: I worked my way round behind him & sniped his rifle out of his hands. Then just waited for him to come to me. :whisper:

By being very, very patient. Lots of sneaking around the backs of the houses, constantly looking for mines and trying to stay out of his line of sight as much as possible. I just slowly crept up on him until I could get a good VATS shot with the mesmetron, and then slapped the collar on him and sent him on his way to Grouse.

This was the first time I was able to pull it off. On all my other playthroughs I ended up killing him.

NO THE HARDEST QUEST IS RIELLY RANGERS!

Where are you getting Harolds heart from? You know you can just set him on fire.
Rescue from paradise is easy too. All you need to do is buy the slaves.

Harold was easy and paradise falls was easy to. the thing that can get most people is the level that their character is. Reilly's rangers was moderate, had trouble finding the entrance to the second floor of the hotel but after that it was a breeze.

Very clever. Wish I'd thought to do that. Gotta start thinking more, rather than just blasting straight ahead!

For me, it was the quest to enter Rivet City. I had no idea that there was a intercom and a bridge to get you on the ship. When I noticed the door that was Locked-Very Hard I just kept leveling on up until I was 100 lockpick skill. Then I found the intercom.

Been there...cannot count the times I knocked my head when I finally saw the intercom :banghead:

Trying to assassinate all 5 people on the hitlist in Gotta Shoot 'Em In The Head and trying to get away with it without anyone making me go [danger].
But if only on quest specific then uhm... Mothership Zeta.
I did not consider MZ to be easy, the aliens had a [censored]-load of health on VH lvl 30 that I had to truly fight for my life.

Reading through the different Rescue from Paradise Falls posts, I find it quite disturbing that I ultimately can't be a bad guy on most of my playthroughs, yet I never have a problem enslaving people.

I'm pro-slavery, then.

Blowing up Megatown was probably the hardest as far as moral choices.

Try playing with increased radiation... then Rivet City and even Harold's Heart are a bit difficult, to say the least. Oasis isn't as bad as RC, though, because the Mirelurks there are nowhere near as aggressive (or at least are not placed in locations where you are guaranteed to be noticed before getting out of the water). Most of the Mirelurks in Oasis go down with a few well-placed frag grenades, and the rest is mop up.

RC,... doesn't quite work that way...

Agree! I still haven't managed the Broken Bow swim. I finally took a break from it and will have to go back and try it eventually. Overall, I find swimming very disorienting and difficult. I drown 9 times out of 10.

The most annoying thing about that I find is the doors you open one and all you can do is float there going

C'mon man i'm gonna drown here!

(I actually shouted this out at 12 in the morning)

I think this is the hardest FO3 quest since finding his heart is a Byeeech:-P

lol thats funny, its pretty easy once you actually get to the cave where his heart is, its on the far north of the map, but once you get inside the caves, its pretty simple, kill a few mirelurks, go underwater through the passage, go straight through, its linear in there, it helps of you have some good firepower, combat shotgun, hunting rifle, 44 caliber pistol, you're all set.

After thinking about it, I didn't find any quest to be so hard that I even got mad enough to pretend to throw my controller. It took me a long time to get through Murder Pass the first time, but I also had no idea what the hell I was doing. Reilly's Rangers wasn't hard, because I had a ton of great guns, high repair, a lot of ammo, and 2 partners (Fawkes and Dogmeat). The Nuka Cola challenge wasn't as hard as it was a pain in the ass, having to collect a bunch of quantums... But then again, I've never actually done Trouble in Paradise, just speech checked my way through. Getting into Paradise Falls was easy, just gun down everyone in sight (just like Evergreen Mills).

Hardest unmarked quest was the Bobbleheads... annoying as heck to find those things. Bethesda did a good job of putting those damn things in the most obscure places. Only 5 or 6 of them are in places you actually pass in quests, and a lot of em are heavily armed (robots are the BANE of my existence).

Yeah, but you have to get IN to Paradise Falls to begin with, and those of us with characters that have more than a little conscience have trouble gaining admittance.

Never done it actually :) For all I care, the kids can rot in their cages even if I massacre the slavers.

Reilly's Rangers is tough one. Lots of fun, but very tough. Not only are there loads of enemies and traps, but I always get lost in the Statesman Hotel. :)

The Broken Steel quests are difficult as well since by the time you start them you will be level 20+. I died in the Presidential Metro so many times. :(

I found Big Trouble in Big Town the hardest because I was such a low level player with hardly any weapons or ammo and knew nothing about the layout of the wasteland. I found Tranquillity Lane hard because I had absolutely no idea what I supposed to do and quest that involves wandering about a mazey interior looking for something is a bit of a nightmare.

Reilly's is my favorite vanilla quest. Lots and lots of shooting, looting and map hopping.

I actually had a pretty easy time in the Presidential Metro - having Godmeat (and lots of Nuka Grenades) helped a lot. With FWE, he's not nearly as indestructible, so we'll see how I fare against the Reavers this time. Adams AFB was tough, though.

Oh, I'd forgotten about that, it was good and very satisfying to figure out. I also enjoyed
Spoiler
thinking I could save the people attacking the troopers with the rolling pin only to see them get up again after a few moments. I did save some, they went off to one of the houses as if nothing had happened.
